About this file

This is an Addendum #1 Q&A document for Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) solicitation DQ1 2026-0366 regarding Class 6 Road Base and Pit Run material delivery for Harvey Gap Parking Lot Improvements. The project requires vendors to supply and deliver approximately 500 tons of material per day, with an estimated need for 2-4 trucks running simultaneously to support placement crew capabilities. The firm delivery deadline is April 20, 2026, with an expected award date of April 7, 2026. CPW heavy equipment operators will handle all installation work; this bid is strictly for material purchase and delivery only. Class 6 material deliveries should utilize belly dump trucks where possible, while pit run material has no specific truck or dump preference. Prior to the first gravel delivery, project staff will develop an additional entrance to accommodate full-size semi-trucks, replacing the previous limitation to tandem axle dump trucks.

Vendors may propose material substitutions such as CDOT Class 2 (3" road base) for the specified 6" minus pit run, subject to Project Manager approval upon submission of sieve analysis documentation and verification that the material meets Colorado Parks and Wildlife specifications as an approved equal. The solicitation addresses delivery logistics and material specifications but does not specify pricing terms, set-asides, or funding amounts in the Q&A document itself.

Q&A

DQ1 2026-0366

Class 6 Road Base and Pit Run, including delivery

1) Can we substitute CDOT Class 2 (3” road base) for the 6” minus pit run?

Answer: The material provided by the vendor would have to be approved by the Project Manager upon submission of the sieve analysis. This material would need to be an approved equal to the CPW specifications provided.

2) What are the delivery requirements as far as truck preference? Tandem axle dump truck, belly dumps? End dumps?

Answer: For Class 6 deliveries, the preference is that the vendor utilizes belly dumps. For the pit run material, there is no truck or dump preference. As soon as the project starts, before the first load of gravel is delivered, the HEOs will develop another entrance into the site in order to accommodate full size semi-trucks. The new entrance and exit layout will be able to handle larger trucks instead of only tandem axle dump trucks.

3) Is there an estimate on how many tons per day you want delivered based on placement crew capabilities?

Answer: Depending on the distance from the gravel pit to Harvey Gap, we are estimating a minimum of 2-4 trucks running at a time to supply the needed material. With that being said, we are estimating needing ±500 tons per day.

4) In the specification verification and delivery sheet it says delivery is required on or before 4/13/26 and the expected award date is 4/7/26. Are these firm dates?

Answer: After further evaluation, the date of 4/20/26 is the firm date that the vendors should abide by. If any loads can be delivered sooner than that then that would be beneficial, but the actual firm delivery date now is 4/20/26.

5) I am writing to verify that the solicitation for the documented quote is strictly for the purchase of materials and does not include installation.

Answer: Correct, the CPW heavy equipment operators will be performing the installation;

this bid is strictly for purchasing and delivering the material.
