About this file

This document is an Addendum No. 1 Q&A issued by the City of Long Beach Department of Financial Management Purchasing Division for RFP No. PR-22-084 regarding an Aquatic Equipment Rental Contractor. The addendum addresses three questions posed by prospective proposers regarding the contract opportunity and future marine-related contracts. The contract is expected to have a nine-year term. Future contracts anticipated to become available include boat tours out of Rainbow Harbor and kiteboarding instruction on the beach near Claremont Avenue. The City anticipates that it will contract with a qualified vendor as a result of this RFP. Proposers are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum by signing and submitting it with their proposals, with failure to do so potentially resulting in disqualification.

The addendum clarifies that the electric boat rental business at Alamitos Landing operating Duffy electric boats is a private company operating under the DBA London Boat Rentals and is permitted to operate from commercial slip space provided by the City of Long Beach. The City notes that it is currently at capacity for commercial rental vessels in Alamitos Bay Marina; however, it accepts new proposals for commercial rental boat operations on an ongoing basis in the event commercial slip space becomes available. Interested parties are encouraged to register as vendors with Long Beach Buys to receive notification of future bidding opportunities.

NOTICE TO PROPOSERS

ADDENDUM NO. 1: Q & A

RFP No. PR-22-084

Aquatic Equipment Rental Contractor

This addendum changes and supersedes the language in the original RFP. Please acknowledge receipt of this addendum by signing and submitting with your proposals. Any proposer who fails to submit this addendum may be disqualified.

The City would like to remind Proposers that pursuant to Section 5.2.25 of the RFP, the City will not be responsible for or bound by any oral communication or any other information or contact that occurs outside the official communication process specified herein, unless confirmed in writing by the City Contact.

The questions and answers are as follows:

1. Q: How often does this specific contract come up for bid and what other marine ones if you know may be available in the near future?

A: This contract is expected to have a term of nine years. Other marine contracts come up for bid from time to time and interested parties should register as a vendor with Long Beach Buys to be made aware of any future opportunities to bid. Future contracts to be made available include boat tours out of Rainbow Harbor and kiteboarding instruction on the beach near Claremont Ave.

2. Q: Do contracts like this one always get filled? What are the chances no one applies or you just don't feel there's a right fit with the ones who are applying? Just trying to see if projects such as these get extended ever.

A: It is anticipated that the City will contract with a qualified vendor as a result of this

RFP.

3. Q: The duffy electric boats in Alamitos bay near the Boathouse- is that privately owned or is that through the city of Long Beach ever up for contract? That would be the next business in a local waterway I'd be interested in.

Q&A Addendum #1 – RFP No. DV22-050
