About this file
This is Addendum 1 to a Request for Qualifications and Proposals issued by Vernon Public Schools for architectural services related to the renovation of Rockville High School's ASTE Program Mechanics Lab. The addendum, dated June 25, 2026, addresses 23 questions submitted by prospective firms and provides clarifications on project scope, schedule, and delivery method. Key clarifications include confirmation that environmental consulting, site survey, and geotechnical consulting services will be retained directly by the owner rather than the awarded architect. The design schedule targets bidding in the fourth quarter of 2026, with construction occurring January through August 2027. The project delivery method will utilize a general contractor hard bid approach using AIA A101 or similar contract documents. Existing drawings from prior 2007 and 2010 renovations will be provided to the awarded architect, and an AHERA report with asbestos testing results will be shared upon selection. The school building has an existing Building Management System that the new system will tie into, and all equipment and system specifications will be determined during schematic design in conjunction with end users, the owner, and the architect.
The addendum confirms that compliance with Connecticut Department of Administrative Services Office of General Counsel standards is not required for this project. Regarding budgets, the addendum indicates that construction, furniture/fixtures/equipment, and technology budgets will be discussed directly with the awarded architect, with proposers permitted to qualify their fee proposals based on assumed budgets, square footage, or schedules. The document confirms that State of Connecticut DAS review and approvals are not required. Environmental hazardous materials testing has already been completed, with the owner potentially conducting a pre-renovation update if necessary. The roof is assumed to be 20 years old and replacement is anticipated within the project scope. No specific student counts or program schedules were disclosed in the addendum, with those details to be confirmed during schematic design discussions with end users and the owner.
