About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 issued by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority Purchasing Office for the Elevator Modernization project (PE-92200-RFP-2026-000000052), dated August 4, 2025. The addendum addresses ten clarifications and modifications to the original proposal documents issued July 14, 2025, regarding the installation and placement of HVAC minisplit systems, sump hole management, sprinkler head considerations in machine rooms and hoistways, smoke and heat head requirements for open shaft hoistways, hoistway door pull chain key box placement on freight elevators, oil line retention standards, LED hoistway lighting specifications, hoistway enclosure requirements, and machine room door modifications. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum prior to the proposal due date, and acknowledgment must be signed in blue ink and either submitted to the purchasing office or attached to the proposal submission. A signature on this addendum does not constitute authorization of the original proposal documents.
The addendum clarifies that HVAC condensate lines cannot be directed to sump holes and establishes specific requirements for sump pump installation where applicable. Sprinkler head removal decisions are delegated to the Fire Marshal, with recommendations varying by elevator type (freight elevators should retain sprinkler heads; passenger elevators may have them removed). The Authority confirms that hoistway lighting other than pit lighting is not required by code and will not be mandated, while hoistways B-8A and B-8B must have proper overhead clearance with 2-hour fire-rated total enclosure, and elevator A-5A's machine room door must be enlarged to 4 feet wide for clearance purposes. No pricing terms, funding sources, or contract award information is contained within this addendum.

ADDENDUM NO. 1
Georgia World Congress Center Authority Elevator Modernization
PE-92200-RFP-2026-000000052
Addendum Issue Date: August 4, 2025 From:
Georgia World Congress Center Authority
Purchasing Office
285 International Boulevard NW
Atlanta, Georgia 30313 This addendum is being issued for the following:
1. For the new HVAC Minisplit systems that need to be installed for each machine room. Please confirm if the condenser unit can be wall mounted on the outside of the hoistway wall. Also, for the elevators that have sump holes with pumps are you ok with the condensate water drain line be directed to the sump hole. For the elevators that sump holes but no pumps in them please advise if there is another location the condensate line can be routed to drain. It wasn’t directly evident during the walk thru. It is not ok for HVAC condensate to be directed to the sump holes.
2. For the elevators that have sump holes only and grates but no sump pumps and are dry with no evidence of water. Are you wanting new pumps in those holes? If so, can you advise where a discharge line can be run to as it wasn’t directly evident where they could be run to drain. If there is a hole, we need to add a sump hole and an oil separator (for hydraulic elevators)
3. For the elevator machine rooms that have sprinkler heads in them that are 2-Hour fire rated. Can the sprinkler heads be removed? If not, a new shut trip breaker and heat heads will need to be installed to meet code. Removing them will be less costly. Fire Marshall call but I recommend yes, they stay and we do what we need to do
4. For the elevator hoistways that have sprinkler heads in them that are 2-Hour fire rated. Can the sprinkler heads be removed? If not, heat heads will need to be installed to meet code. Removing them will be less costly. Fire Marshall call, but I would say for freight elevators, they should stay and we do what we need to do. Passenger could be removed
5. For the two elevators (A-5B & A-5B) that have hoistways with open shafts at the top. Are we required to install a smoke head or heat heads as there isn’t any existing? If yes, are they to be mounted to the side of the hoistway wall or are they to be mounted to the building ceiling above the open hoistways. Note there are sprinklers and lights in the building ceiling above as well that aren’t technically in the hoistway. It is my opinion that nothing be added to the top of the hoistway with no roof. I would add a heat detector to initiate recall on the open lobbies
6. On the two Frt. Elevators B-6 & B-7 is it ok to install the new hoistway door pull chain key boxes on the rear entrances in lieu of the front entrances as the wall conditions on the front entrances doesn’t provide enough room on the front walls to install them. No fire service, hoistway access, pit ladders are all there at the front.
7. Is the intent of the specifications to retain the existing above ground exposed oil lines? Any oil line above ground that is not damaged, rusting… can be retained.
8. The specifications call out for new 4ft tube LED hoistway lighting in the shafts at every other floor. Technically by code this isn’t required. Please confirm if you want the hoistway lighting. No, hoistway lighting other than the pit is not required
9. 1.Do the hoistways need to be closed? ( pictures go with this question)
B-8A and B-8B elevator with the top of hoistways these need to have proper overhead clearance and need to be 2hr rated and totally enclosed.
10. 2. Does A-5A machine room need any additional work? A-5A machine room needs to have the current machine room door cut out and reinstall a 4FT wide door for clearance issues
This addendum will be a part of PE-92200-RFP-2026-000000052 and modifies the original proposal documents dated July 14, 2025 as noted.
NOTE: A signed acknowledgement of this addendum should be received by this office prior to the due date or should be attached to your proposal. A signature on this addendum does not constitute your signature on the original proposal document.
