About this file
This document is a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for General Purpose Vehicle Installation by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona State Office, Version 2.0. The SOP provides detailed technical instructions for installing radio communication equipment in law enforcement vehicles, specifically focusing on the Skymira SATRAD Explorer 323, Skymira PepLink LTE Router, and Motorola APX 8500 radio systems.
Key installation requirements include mounting equipment on the sidewall outside the prisoner cage, using 8AWG red and black copper stranded wire directly connected to the vehicle battery, installing a specific fuse panel, running antenna cables through the "C" pillar, and using a roof-mounted external antenna for the PepLink router. The document mandates direct wiring with no inline fuses, timers, or splices, and specifies that all radios must be tested from the install shop prior to deployment. Any deviation from the wiring specifications must be approved by the BLM Arizona State Office Field Communications Team, contactable at 602-867-5580 or blm_az_field_comm_support@blm.gov.
