In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs including but not limited to GTRs 1 through 7, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29.

2.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional

3.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED

Provide and operate equipment and supply all services and assistance to accomplish the inspection and servicing of the Gyrocompass system using References 2.1 through 2.3 as guidance; SOLAS V/12 and 19.

Coordinate with ship’s force to have associated equipment locked and/or tagged out per ship’s lock out/tag out policy. When the maintenance is complete, coordinate with ship’s force to have associated equipment unlocked and/or tagged in per ship’s lock out/tag out policy.

All work will only be accomplished by trained, experienced and authorized service personnel for the specific system. They are also to be trained in electrical safety to avoid personnel injury. As such the worker must be fully aware of the risks associated with his surroundings and be fully knowledgeable of health and safety standards. The equipment does contain Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESSDs). Take care not to damage these devices by discharge of electrostatic voltages.

Disconnect electrically and remove failed Dynamic Reference Unit #1.

Package and ship failed dynamic reference unit #1 to the Anschutz factory in Germany for repair.

Install overhauled dynamic reference unit and reconnect the electrical cables.

Test, inspect and verify proper operation of all features, warnings and alarms of the Gyrocompass system #1 using Manufacturer and IMO requirements as guidance. To include:

Gyro Failure, Loss of Magnetic Compass data, Variation of Magnetic Compass, Loss of Speed data, Variation of Speed data, Loss of Position data, Heading differential, Failure of Main Power, Failure of Backup Power, Operational Alarms, and Emergency source of electrical power.

All illuminations function properly Select Gyroscope No.1 and verify all repeaters follow.

Check Gyrocompass system repeater outputs for correct output.

Provide a condition report to the OMT REP by individual Gyro summarizing all as found conditions to include revision of software and any recommended parts and repairs.

Upon completion of repairs, adjustments and tests optimize and tune the systems. Demonstrate satisfactory operation of the ship's Gyrocompass systems to the OMT REP, Captain and Navigator.

Reports When inspection, service and testing reveal any deficiency a condition report is to be submitted to the OMT REP with recommended repairs and parts required. Submit one electronic copy in Portable Document Format (PDF).

Submit a report that includes “as released” condition of the Gyro. Submit one electronic copy in Portable Document Format (PDF).

All reports and checklists are to be completed and signed by the person who carried out the inspection and maintenance work and countersigned by the Company’s representative.

Painting: None additional Manufacturer’s Representative Provide the services of an OEM authorized field service representative to accomplish all work and testing on the Gyrocompass identified in section 3.0 ensuring compliance with the manufacturer’s standards and performance specifications. The Manufacturer's Representative is to ride the ship for sea trials and demonstrate satisfactory operation of the Gyro Systems at sea.

Provide the OMT REP with a signed letter of qualification from the original equipment manufacturer and certificate of training for the Gyro systems technician working on the Gyro systems identified in section 3.0 prior to the start of any work.

During dock trials, verify that all equipment that requires and utilizes a gyro input is operating correctly with the input sent from the gyro. This is to be verified with the ship’s Chief Engineer, Navigator, and Ship’s Communications Officer within the first two hours of dock trials.

Preparation of Drawings Provide electronic copies of all revised and/or updated technical documentation including drawings, technical manuals, service bulletins, parts lists, certification and test data associated with the work performed or parts supplied to the OMT REP.
