About this file
This document is a technical installation guide for migrating FWS-R2 vehicles from Explorer 323 satellite communication systems to Starlink Mini systems.
The installer must remove three components from existing vehicles and ship them to Skymira (167 Cherry St., Suite 430, Milford, CT 06460) for configuration and return: the Mobile Gateway (without microphone or cables), Peplink Router (without antenna or cables), and the SIM card only (extracted using a Torx bit from the SIM card holder). Installation utilizes the previously installed fuseblock and requires rewiring fuseblock power to route through a pre-existing battery timer/charge guard. The integrated system comprises a Starlink Mini with magnetic mount (installed on vehicle roof), Peplink LTE router, and Mobile Gateway (MG2), with supporting components including LTE antenna, 4-wire E&M cable (if included), 4-wire E&M patch switch, and PTT handset cradle with Ram Mount kit. The fuse block configuration specifies 7.5A, 5A, and 20A fuses for the Mobile Gateway and Peplink connections, with the battery timer (ITS-12 model) managing power distribution to the Starlink Mini through an Orion-Tr isolated DC/DC converter. The PTT handset requires a clear southern sky view for satellite lock and allows talkgroup selection via jogwheel control. Technical support is available through Skymira at (203) 987-3336 Option 2 or support@skymira.com.
