About this file
This document contains load limit details for the Blue Ridge Parkway. The key points are:
The Blue Ridge Parkway has specific gross vehicle weight restrictions for single units and combination units. For single units, the limits range from 40,000 pounds for 2 axles up to 52,000 pounds for 4 or more axles. For combination units, the limits range from 57,000 pounds for 3 axles up to 66,000 pounds for 5 or more axles. Additional restrictions may be imposed when the ground is saturated or during freezing/thawing conditions. Vehicles must operate at speeds not exceeding 40 mph, with further speed limits on bridges. Haulers of overweight or oversize loads must submit vehicle and load details for special consideration and permits.
This document is provided in relation to a federal contract opportunity for vegetation removal under and adjacent to road bridges along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and North Carolina. The services required include cutting down dead, diseased, and hazardous trees, and removal of all trees, woody vegetation, and shrubs under and adjacent to the bridges. This is a firm-fixed price commercial services contract under a 100% small business set-aside, with a NAICS code of 561730 Landscaping Services.
