SUMMARY OF WORK
SECTION 01 11 00
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
Project Location:
This project is located at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
A. The job is to replace the existing micro filtration skid feed pumps at the following location:
1. Katherine Landing, AZ developed area. 35.224070, -114.570731
B. The Work consists of the following:
1. Replace two existing micro-filtration, vertical turbine feed pumps and motors.
Replacements must be compatible with existing systems and capable of producing the required 348 gpm at roughly 30 psi.
2. The new pumps and motors must be installed one at a time and given a 24 hour test run before installing the second pump to ensure proper operation and to eliminate any chance of down time for the water treatment plant. Existing pumps will not be removed from the water treatment plant until new pumps have been tested and proven to work properly.
Continued operation of the water treatment plant must be maintained throughout pump replacement. Switch over to new pumps will be scheduled with and observed by NPS personnel.
3. New pumps/ motors must be compatible with existing variable frequency drives(VFDs), programmable logic controllers(PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition systems(SCADA).
4. New pumps and motors must fit existing plumbing connections and pump stands.
5. New pumps must be NSF 61 compliant for use with drinking water.
6. New pumps shall have sealed bearings and no grease zerks.
7. New pumps and motors do not need to be same brand but must be fully compatible with the existing system.
8. Specs on existing pumps and motors:
Motors- US Electrical Motors(Emerson), 30 HP, 3ph, 230/460v, 180-1800rpm, 60hz Pumps- Peerless 040 FYM, 8x8x12, see pics.
9. Contractor is required to submit at minimum a daily progress report, plan for the next day, before and after pics that assist in documenting the work process and progress.
10. Work includes associated mechanical joints needed, parts, fittings, thrust blocking, delineation, flagging, traffic control, trenching, grading, backfill and labor to provide a functioning water plant feed pumping system that satisfies the needs of the NPS unit as determined by NPS personnel.
11. The design of this project must be approved by NPS LAKE engineering office.
12. The contractor will be responsible for any required permits or compliance needs from the State of Arizona. All new utility work will comply with AWWA, NPS

and state of Arizona regulations. Permits must be stamped by a AZ P.E. when required. Copies of all permit submittals and approvals will be provided to NPS asap.
13. Call Arizona dig alert at 811 before any trenching or excavation.
C. Performance Period: Period of performance shall be 180 calendar days.
1.2 GOVERNMENT-FURNISHED ITEMS (NOT USED)
1.3 PUBLIC USE OF THE SITE
A. General: The project site is open to the public and open to National Park Service (NPS) employees during this project. The contractor shall at all times conduct his operations to ensure the least inconvenience to the visitors and NPS Staff.
1.4 CONTRACTOR USE OF SITE
A. General: Limit use of the site during the service period to the project area limits as outlined on the attached site maps. Do not disturb portions of the site beyond the project area limits.
B. Park Entry: The contractor shall furnish a list of personnel with phone contact information.
Vehicles associated with the contractor shall be waived entrance fee upon entering in a marked company vehicle or by providing the names of employees entering in personal vehicles. The entrance fee is waived only for the purpose of reporting directly to a specific work location. Any deviation for recreational purposes is subject to payment of required entrance fees.
C. Site Access: The contractor shall access the project site as outlined on the attached site maps.
Do not drive vehicles off road or access non-project areas without permission from the contracting officer or park superintendent.
D. Park Regulations: Ensure all personnel (contractors, subcontractors, and vendors) entering or working in the park are familiar with and obey all park regulations. Law enforcement rangers will intervene if they perceive any unsafe or unlawful activity.
E. Working Hours: Regular work hours shall be limited to daylight hours from 7:00 a.m. until
5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding government holidays. Work outside regular hours requires approval from the contracting officer.
F. No Smoking Policy: Smoking is prohibited inside or outside within 25 feet of any buildings in the park. This applies to existing buildings, buildings under construction, and buildings

under renovation. Discarding of tobacco products or debris anywhere other than into designated tobacco receptacles is considered littering and subject to fines.
G. Staging and Storage: Confine storage of equipment and materials to the staging / lay-down / storage areas identified on the attached site maps or as established at the post award meeting.
H. Parking: The contractor shall park vehicles and heavy equipment in designated areas for contractor use or as established at the post award meeting. Vehicles are not permitted within long-term or overnight parking along roads or in associated overlooks / pull-outs.
I. Driveways and Entrances: The contractor shall keep driveways and entrances serving the premises clear and available to the government, government employees, and emergency vehicles at all times.
J. Preservation of Natural Features: Prevent damage to natural surroundings. Restored damaged areas and replace damaged trees, vegetation, and grass at no expense to the government.
K. Refer also to Section 01 11 40 Work Restrictions and Section 01 50 00 Temporary Facilities
& Controls.
1.5 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS / REPORTS
A. General: The following reference documents / reports are available upon request to supplement the information specified in the contract documents: Operations and Maintenance Manuals if available.
