About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a roofing replacement project for the National Park Service at Fort Matanzas (FOMA) National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida. The project involves replacing cedar wood shake shingles on two structures - the Visitor's Center/Interpretation Offices and the Law Enforcement Office/Garage - with Brava™ cedar shake tiles in "Weathered" color. The existing roofs are 14+ years old and have sustained damage from hurricanes, with the Visitor's Center roof measuring approximately 19 squares and the Law Enforcement building roof measuring 9 squares.

Key requirements include removing existing roofing materials, replacing rotted rafters, installing ridge vents, applying peel and stick membranes, and installing new copper gutter systems. The contractor must use high-wind installation methods, replace all fasteners, and maintain the historic buildings' original appearance. Work must be completed within 60 days after the notice to proceed, with work hours restricted to 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project requires compliance with multiple standards, including OSHA regulations, Florida Building Code, and the Brava Shake Installation Guidelines, with careful attention to preserving the site's historic features.
