Glacier National Park Statement of Work for Portable Fire Extinguisher Contract Description

Glacier National Park (GNP) has 900 portable fire extinguishers in the National Park Service (NPS). GNP requires a vendor to come on site and service all extinguishers annually. The service will include annual service, 6 Year Internal Inspection, and Hydrostatic Inspections/Testing - estimated 150 units. All servicing will be accomplished in accordance with all applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

Contractor will ensure all extinguishers are properly mounted and secured in accordance with NFPA standards as well as ensure there is the proper amount and appropriate type and weight required by NFPA standards.

GNP has extinguishers located in the following fixed locations:

Rising Sun
West Glacier
Logan Pass
Apgar Village
Birdwoman Falls
Fish Creek
Packers Roost
Camas
Logan Creek
Kintla Lake
Avalanche Campground
Bowman Lake
Sprague Creek Campground
Logging Creek
Lake McDonald Lodge
Polebridge
Walton
Two Medicine
East Glacier
Many Glacier
Back Country
St Mary Campground
St Mary Visitor Center
Rising Sun
Goat Haunt (requires passport)
Logan Pass
Hudson Bay
Birdwoman Falls
Cutbank Campground

Additionally, of the 900 extinguishers, GNP has approximately 250 portable fire extinguishers located within the vehicle fleet requiring the annual checks, inspections and maintenance located Glacier National Park.

A GNP escort will be made available to the vendor.

Specifications

At the conclusion of work, the vendor will provide a final copy (Excel) spreadsheet reflecting the most current information of condition, location, size, type, brand, manufacture, and frequency of the extinguishers for the fixed locations and extinguishers with the GNP Fleet as given in the following examples.

At the conclusion, the vendor will provide the updated spreadsheets/inventories to the Glacier Safety and Occupational Health Office.

GNP has approximately 314 miles of roadway. It is anticipated that a contractor performing this service could travel more than 450 miles to perform this required service.

The contractor is responsible for securing lodging and meals. Note, to facilitate project ease and if required, it is recommended lodging reservations are made for the East and West Sides of the park first.

Total portable fire extinguished serviced not to exceed 900.

Work must be coordinated with the Glacier Safety and Occupational Health Office and completed no later than October 10, 2025.
