About this file
This Statement of Work outlines the requirements for epoxy floor installation in the basements of Fruita and Orchard Dorms at Capitol Reef National Park. The project involves installing grey epoxy coating with black and white fleck across 3,136 total square feet (1,568 sqft per basement) to replace existing carpet, linoleum, and vinyl plank flooring that is prone to water damage from flooding.
The contractor must provide all materials and labor, perform cement subfloor grinding, apply the epoxy coating, and complete any necessary touch-ups after curing. The government will handle furniture removal and existing flooring removal. Work must be completed by February 21, 2025, with standard hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. The contractor must maintain compliance with building codes, NPS policies, OSHA requirements, and proper waste disposal procedures. Final inspection and acceptance will be performed by Capitol Reef National Park representatives. The project aims to solve recurring flood damage issues by installing water-resistant epoxy flooring in place of materials that are easily damaged when waterlogged.

SCOPE OF WORK
Epoxy Floor Installation of Fruita and Orchard Dorms
Capitol Reef National Park
Project Information:
Project Description/Summary:
The intent of this proposal is to redo the basement floors of Fruita and Orchard Dorms, located within the employee housing area, with a poured epoxy coating in a grey base with black and white fleck. The square footage of the basements for both dorms is 1,568 sqft., for a total of 3,136 sqft. These basements have the same layout, they are just mirrored. The proposed project will be to complete preparation work that isn’t done by the park, application of the epoxy flooring, and follow up if there needs to be touch ups to the floor once it is cured. There will be tenants living in the upstairs portion of the dorms, but the basements will be empty of tenants.
Objectives:
Currently there is a combination of carpet, linoleum, and vinyl plank floors in the basements. Due to the natural slope in housing, these basements are unfortunately prone to flooding. These floors, when they flood must be replaced due to damage and mold concerns. It does not make sense to keep replacing the flooring with material that easily damages when waterlogged. The epoxy coating will prevent the floor from being damaged by water.
Project Scope of Work:
Work and Components will include:
a. Prep work which includes grinding of the cement subfloor.
b. Pouring of the epoxy coating in grey base with black and white fleck and all components that come with that task.
c. Following up if there needs to be touch ups once the floor has cured.
Specific Tasks:
Contractor shall:
a. Provide all the materials needed.
b. Provide the labor.
c. Ensure the work is in accordance with all codes and regulations.
d. Be available to make any corrections that may be needed to the floor once the epoxy has had a chance to cure.
Government shall:
a. Remove all the furniture and other items in the basement.
b. Remove the current flooring in all areas of the basement.
Sequence and Period of Performance: Project to be completed by Feb. 21, 2025. Work hours will be
Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Work required beyond those hours must be coordinated and approved by the park.
Project Identification:
Site Conditions: Contractor will be responsible for making sure the inside and the outside of the house remain as clean as possible during and after the project. All materials and supplies shall be disposed of properly by the contractor.
Codes and Regulations: Contractor shall maintain work area in accordance with the contract specification, applicable Uniform Building Codes, Federal and State Code and Regulations, NPS Policies and guidelines and OSHA requirements.
Contractor Generated Refuse: All contractor generated refuse and waste shall be cleaned up at the conclusion of the project. Refuse disposal shall comply with the current disposal and environmental requirements. The work site will be kept neat, orderly, and safe for workmen at all times.
Inspection and Acceptance: Capitol Reef National Park representative will perform a final inspection and acceptance at end of project.
