About this file
This document summarizes an industry day presentation related to a federal contract opportunity for an Air Route Surveillance Radar version 4 replacement in Hawaii. The Air Force is seeking to replace the aging ARSR-4 radar system on Oahu with a new S-band radar to provide air traffic surveillance and missile defense capabilities. The acquisition will proceed in two phases, with the first being a competitive prototype demonstration by two vendors and the second involving rapid prototyping, testing and installation by a single downselected contractor. The industry day briefing provided an overview of radar requirements, the acquisition approach and schedule, as well as plans for product support and site implementation activities to integrate the new radar system into the National Airspace System. The Federal Aviation Administration will lead site selection and upgrades to power and communications infrastructure to enable operation of the replacement radar.
