DASHIELDS L/D NEW MOORING CELL AND WATERWAY DANGER SIGN
SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION:
The Dashields L/D New Mooring Cell and Waterway Danger Sign is located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The project will include the installation of a sheet pile cell which encapsulates the existing sheet pile cell. Line hooks will be added to the new cell. The concrete cap of the existing cell will be demolished, but the rest of the existing cell will be left in place. The existing check posts will be salvaged and reused in the new concrete cap. The space between the new and old cells and the space above the old cell will be filled with consolidated, free-draining fill material (the existing concrete cap may be demolished and used as fill material). A new concrete cap will be placed. The previous small signage was replaced in 2019 with a slightly larger sign, but the current signage is still insufficient. The current signage will be carefully removed and returned to the
Dashields L/D personnel. A new danger sign will be installed on top of the new concrete cap. All required materials and testing will be provided according to the applicable standards and specifications of
ACI, AISC, ASTM, AWS, and PennDOT. The Contractor will need to complete the work from a floating plant.
The Government fabricated a sign frame in 2017 as part of a different project. That portion of the previous project was not implemented.
This project will use this frame for the danger sign. However, the
Contractor is required to make a few modifications (addition of braces and shear lugs) to the Government furnished frame before installation.
The approximate duration of the contract is anticipated to be in the range of 365 days.
