About this file
This document is a specification and questionnaire for a Rubber-Tired ATV Carrier-Mounted Multi-Purpose Geotechnical Drilling Rig for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The rig will be used for soil sampling, foundation testing, and subsurface exploration work for IDOT highway operations. The specification covers the requirements for the carrier, drill unit, power unit, hydraulics, draw works, and other components. The agency is seeking a current model year or newer ATV carrier-mounted drilling rig from an established manufacturer or authorized dealer. Key requirements include a 120+ horsepower turbocharged diesel engine, a carrier capable of 12+ mph speeds and traversing difficult terrain, a hydraulically actuated drill frame, and a variety of hydraulic hoists, pumps, and accessories. Bids will only be accepted from authorized dealers, and the successful vendor must provide training, manuals, and prompt parts and service. The contract will be awarded to the bidder that meets the specification and provides the best overall value, with serviceability being a key factor.
The specification does not include pricing terms, set asides, or funding details. However, it does state that the equipment must be lead-free with low VOC levels, and that the agency reserves the right to approve the locations of all installed components. The successful vendor will be responsible for guaranteeing delivery within the quoted timeframe and ensuring all equipment is fully operational upon delivery.
