About this file
This document is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement specification for worker safety during construction or outdoor work projects. The document mandates that all project Safety Plans must include comprehensive guidance for worker protection during adverse weather conditions, with specific focus on extreme heat scenarios. When temperatures reach or exceed 90 degrees (either actual temperature or heat index), the Prime Contractor is required to implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes provisions for worker acclimatization, access to water, rest periods, and shade.
The specification requires vendors to acknowledge and agree to these safety requirements by signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of submission. The document emphasizes the Prime Contractor's responsibility to provide necessary accommodations during extended periods of adverse weather conditions, covering both heat-related and cold-related worker safety concerns. By signing, vendors commit to following these heat protection safety guidelines throughout the project's execution, demonstrating a proactive approach to maintaining worker health and safety in challenging environmental conditions.
