About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a 9 FSS Pool Coverage and Accessories Contract. The document provides detailed measurements for two pools (Lakehouse and Main Base Pool), including specific dimensions of pool sides, obstacles, ladders, slides, and lifts. A key discussion revolves around an automatic pool cover system, which was determined to be unacceptable due to its inability to accommodate existing pool obstructions like slides, ladders, and lifts.
The pool cover was described as a trackless, fully automatic energy-saving system made from extruded rigid PVC or polycarbonate slats, offering two slat types: hollow-core (with 3 air chambers) and solid-core foam-filled. While the system claims to reduce energy, water, and chemical usage by up to 70%, the government response indicated that the proposed cover does not meet the requirement to prevent leaves, branches, and debris from entering the pool. The document also confirms this is a new contract requirement with no incumbent contractor.

4. Can the Government confirm if the Automatic Pool Cover Systems meets the requirements of this solicitation?
A trackless, fully automatic energy-saving pool cover made from extruded rigid PVC or polycarbonate slats. It is not a safety cover and does not meet ASTM F1346-91, but is designed for high thermal insulation, aesthetics, and compatibility with complex pool shapes such as vanishing edge, Lautner edge, and zero-edge designs.
Two slat types are offered:
• Hollow-core slats (3 air chambers) in multiple colors, offering insulation and buoyancy.
• Solid-core foam-filled slats, exclusive to Aquamatic, offering superior insulation for cold climates.
The system supports in-floor or recessed installation, is powered by a hydraulic drive, and is ideal for commercial and custom residential pools. It significantly reduces energy, water, and chemical usage—up to 70% savings reported.
Please confirm whether this type of energy-saving cover (non-safety rated) is acceptable for the intended use.
“The automatic pool cover systems is unable to accommodate obstructions at both pools such as the slide, ladder, and lifts. Additionally, the pool cover storage must have wheels or other mobility mechanisms for easy movement and positioning.
The goal of the pool cover is to prevent leaves, branches, and other debris from entering the pool. If the purposed product is unable to meet the requirement outlined in the statement of need, then the quote would be deemed unacceptability.”
