About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) procurement, likely for NASA. The Q&A covers technical details about a custom-designed PCB, including assembly, components, and specifications. Key details include:

The PCB is custom-designed with components listed in a Bill of Materials (Cobra2-68-BOM_20250702.xls). The procurement is for both the bare PCB and its assembly, using lead-free solder paste. Accompanying files include pick-and-place files (PCB-68-Modified-Pick-Place.txt), assembly drawings (COBRA2-68-PrototypeAssembly_Altium.pdf and Cobra2-PCB-Assembly.pdf), and a Bill of Materials. No testing procedures or equipment will be provided. Component substitutions were discussed, including an acceptable replacement for ED555/10DS (OSTTE100104) and a mounting bracket (PCB-MB-01). NASA will separately procure and attach the mounting blocks to the fully assembled PCBs.

Questions and Answers

1. Can you clarify if you have a manufacturer part number? And what is the part number?

The PCB itself is custom-designed by us, and as such does not yet have a part number assigned by us. The components to mount on the PCB all have manufacturer’s part numbers, though, and they should be listed in the Bill of Materials (Cobra2-68- BOM_20250702.xls). Please let me know if an item in the BOM is missing a part number; I can get that to you.

2. Is this just for the bare PCB or is this also for assembly (turnkey)?

This is for the PCB, and also for assembly.

3. Will the solder paste be leaded or lead free?

Lead free.

4. Do you have pick-and-place files available?

Yes; please see the accompanying file named “PCB-68-Modified-Pick-Place.txt”.

5. Do you have assembly drawings?

Yes: please see the accompanying file named “COBRA2-68-Prototype- Assembly_Altium.pdf” for Altium’s “Assembly Drawing” -output, or see the accompanying file named “Cobra2-PCB-Assembly.pdf” for an Altium Draftsman assembly drawing.

6. SOW files mention testing but no testing files were included. Would you be able to provide testing procedures and equipment?

No testing procedures or equipment will be provided.

7. One final bit of info here.

There is currently no stock on ED555/10DS

Let me know if they can accept this as a replacement.

The mounting bracket didn’t have a part number in the correct column. We did find some info in the foot print. This is the part we quoted.

Finally I didn’t see a part for the screw or a mounting method. Let me know if they have a preference or we will just use a standard Phillips screw.

The OSTTE100104 is an acceptable substitution; the PCB-MB-01 is the correct part; and we do not expect the vendor to attach OR supply the PCB-MB-01 mounting blocks; NASA will procure the PCB-MB-01 blocks and attach them to the (otherwise fully assembled) PCBs ourselves.
