Amendment 0002
Question and Answer to RFP 80JSC018Q0001
1. Question: We understand NASA's current G-III, Tail # N992NA is Serial Number (SN) #302, which given Gulfstream's manufacturing history, would mean that aircraft has a Direct Current (DC) electrical system. However, all G-III aircraft manufactured after SN #402 were installed with Alternating Current (AC) electrical systems. The difference in an AC vs. DC electrical system could significantly impact the parts/components' compatibility from one type of aircraft to another, mostly the generators/alternators, converters, TRU’s, and avionics systems, if they are not similarly AC or DC components. However, this variable would NOT impact the engine interoperability, which we understand to be NASA's main interest in a spare aircraft. We suggest you confirm this variable with your own technical experts and whether or not it should impact your procurement requirements.
Answer:
Differences between AC/DC G-III aircraft do not impact the viability of the proposed aircraft to serve as a parts platform for the Johnson Space Center. Offerors can propose any G-III aircraft that meets specification requirements.
