Appendix H:
Furniture Specifications
FS-1
Statement of work:
The Contractor shall provide all components, delivery, assembly, and installation of the item specified or drawn. See specifications (Attachment A to this Appendix) and contract drawings which are herein referenced.
Products must be new. Products must be on Federal Supply Schedules (FSS)
The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and expertise necessary to perform the delivery, storage, and installation of all furnishings (see also section titled “Delivery and installation” below). The Contractor shall work in coordination with NASA and its consultants (TEN Arquitectos, Bialosky + Partners Architects, and other NASA support service contractors) as needed to coordinate delivery and installation.
Within one week of award, the awardee shall meet with project representatives to review the project and discuss any issues that might affect the product specific furniture layout. It is the awardee’s responsibility to perform verification of the site conditions and field measurements. If conditions are found that affect the furniture layout and bill of materials, the vendor shall bring the situation to the attention of the Contracting Officer (CO) and propose solutions to resolve the layout issues.
Delivery and installation will occur during normal business hours as defined in the specifications.
Any changes to the requirements described herein, prior to or after award, will not be accepted unless approved by the CO. A proposal that does not adhere to the solicitation requirements (i.e. Quantity, dimensions, finishes) may not be considered for award.
Contractor Team Arrangements
Contractor Team Arrangements (CTA’s) are permitted with other GSA MAS contract holder(s). The CTA must be identified by the Contractor “team leader” and a copy of the signed agreement outlining responsibilities for each team member must be provided with the original quotation.

Potential vendors shall be current contract holders in good standing under GSA.
Federal Supply Schedule Category 71. All products contained in the vendor’s quote must be products available from the vendor’s or a teaming partners’ GSA schedule 71 contract.
Teaming arrangements between GSA Multiple award Schedule contract holders under Schedule 71 only are permitted. Any open market items must be clearly identified as “open market” items, in accordance with Federal Acquisition regulation (FAR) 8.402(f).
GSA MAS CTA requirements:
• Items on the quote must be marked as “teaming”.
• The lead team member must supply a “teaming letter” with its quotation. A teaming letter constitutes a letter from the teaming partner that is supplying the product. A CTA quote will not be considered without a “teaming letter” this letter must:
o Identify the RFQ.
o Identify the Contract Number of the team member supplying the product to the vendor.
o State that the team member will supply the items at prices no higher that (or discounts no lower than) its GSA MAS contract pricing, through better pricing than on its MAS contract is encouraged.
o State that the team member supplying the product will be responsible for reporting sales on order for this project to the Government and paying its own
Industrial Funding Fee (IFF).
Submittal Requirements
The following information shall be submitted for approval:
• One copy of catalogs (with pictures) for all products being proposed and any other information (factual or visual) necessary to demonstrate the product meets the requirements stated in the solicitation.

• A schedule showing the number of calendar days from final order placement to delivery to completion of installation
• 3-D typicals
• Shop drawings
• Finish Samples
• Product warranties
• Qualifications of installers.
• A statement identifying items proposed or other aspects of the quote which deviate from the requirements of the RFQ. If any such deviations are not explicitly identified, the Contractor will be responsible for any costs associated with providing conforming product or otherwise meeting the requirements of the RFQ.

Quality Assurance
Manufacturer shall specialize in designing and manufacturing the type of furnishings specified in this section, and shall have a minimum of 5 years of documented successful experience. Manufacturer shall have the facilities capable of meeting contract requirements, single-source responsibilities and warranty. The furnishings must be installed by a certified dealership with a certified installation crew. Installing company must be able to provide a certificate of insurance upon demand. Insurance coverages shall satisfy prescribed limits. Installing company shall have a minimum of 5 years of documented successful experience in the installation of furnishings similar to the requirements of this section.

Delivery, Storage, and Installation
The Contractor is responsible for assessing, evaluating, verifying and confirming the conditions of the building, including accessibility, site restrictions, parking, deliveries, loading dock, elevator, storage, installation and staging hours of availability/ accessibility of all the above, and any other conditions that may affect the cost of the delivery and installation.
All shipping, receiving, unloading, and pre-installation preparation shall be the responsibility of, and supervised by the Contractor.
Deliver products in containers designed to protect them until final installation. Make arrangements to receive equipment at the project site at a time and place agreed with General Contractor. If the site is not ready for delivery, then either delay delivery or arrange to hold in a secure and protected warehouse until delivery can be made to the job site. This delay or storage shall be the responsibility of the Contractor and shall be provided at no additional cost to the Government.
Conduct pre-installation walk through and conference with NASA and architect prior to installation to determine site and building conditions and agree to the level of protection required (floor and wall padding).
The Contractor must deliver and install the system pursuant to the schedule submitted with its proposal and shall promptly notify the CO of any situation which might impact the project completion schedule.
If the installation is subcontracted, the Contractor shall utilize an installer that is an established organization fully familiar and experienced with the products outlined and proved to be capable of executing and servicing projects similar in size and scope to this project. Determination of status as an established organization shall be at the discretion of the design team and NASA.
Installation supervision shall be handled by an experienced installer that is an experienced on-site supervisor who has at least 1 year experience installing furniture of comparable size and complexity/ All employees should be prepared to provide valid, Government issued identification prior to access to the installation site.
Each contractor shall determine its requirement for union or non-union labor and price its

quote accordingly. The Government does not make this determination. There shall be no relief for contractors not taking this element into consideration in its quote. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to provide an adequate work force to ensure that the required schedule is met.
Responsibility and liability for loss or damage shall remain with the Contractor until inspection and acceptance by the architects and NASA, including any damage to the building which occurs during delivery and installation.
The Contractor shall ensure that all products and installation comply with the General Specification in applicable schedule.
The Contractor shall prepare the furniture for immediate use as part of the installation.
Contractor shall provide a professional installation that is square, plum, and properly aligned. The system shall be clean and in good working condition. The Contractor shall dispose of waste materials according to the waste management requirements outlined in the specifications.
The Contractor shall be responsible for confining his crew and work to the designated project areas. Contractor shall also be responsible for ensuring that the installation personnel are identifiable.
Contractor shall review the installation with NASA and its consultants to prepare a punch list of any problems identified. Punch list items must be corrected to the satisfaction of the Architects and NASA within fourteen (14) days. If such items are not corrected, NASA may otherwise arrange for the correction of such items and deduct any expenses from amounts otherwise due under the contract.
Provide Warranty service response within 24 hours of NASA request. Facilitate parts and labor requirements within 10 business days of the determination of need. Schedule all service activities within space so as not to interfere with activities with space at no charge.
User Training
The Contractor shall provide all service, cleaning and operation manuals to NASA prior to completion of the project.
The Contractor shall schedule and conduct a demonstration of equipment and features

with NASA personnel, including maintenance training. This training session will be video recorded by NASA for archiving.

SECTION 1; Laminate Casegoods
TYP:1 & Typ:2
Typical Private Office Desks
A. Desks Overview
1. Refer to architectural furniture plans for design intent and dimensions
2. Primary work surface shall be 30”x84”
3. Assembly of all Desks shall be metal to metal connection with threaded insert ¼’’ –
20. An aesthetic ¼’’ gap shall allow a floating top over modesty and end gables that permit the mounting of accessories, electrics and communications.
4. Generic & Linear Worksurfaces and Preconfigured Desks shall feature a ¼’’ gap enhanced by plastic elliptic shape spacer system.
5. Desk surface thicknesses shall be at least 1”
A. With a 1’’ thick worksurface desk total height shall be 29’’ from the finished floor to the top of the finished worksurface.
6. Casegoods shall be available in three configurations: Freestanding desks, Semi
Supported desks, Semi supported worksurfaces
7. All desk dimensions shall be nominal minus 0.5%

1. Shall be mounted/screwed on 2 structural supports and one optional element that shall be ordered separately. Supports shall be connected/screwed under the desk surface in order to assure stability. If an Element is specified, it shall be connected to the two Structural Supports.
2. Shall be the same thickness as the desk on which it is mounted.

1. Metal construction
A. Metal storage products shall be made of #22 gauge steel parts mechanically assembled and welded on a #18 gauge steel structure
B. Case bottom shall be made of two #18 gauge steel struts. A flanged nut designed for metal storage shall provide structural integrity for levelers and casters.
C. Drawer fronts shall be 18 mm (11/16”) thick and shall be offered in laminate
(45 lbs/ft density, two faces) or metal. Edge trims shall be made of 1.5mm thick plastic Straight style.
D. Drawer fronts shall be available in many metal, laminate or wood colors.
E. All drawers shall provide full extension slides with the following loading capacity in order to comply with BIFMA standards:
F. Lateral file drawers shall include an interlock system that allows opening only one drawer at a time.
G. Locks shall be provided and can be selected as either keyed alike or keyed random.
H. Hanging file bars, pencil trays and dividers shall be included in all drawers.
I. For all units not installed under a worksurface, an optional top (RSMRT) can be purchased.
J. All metal storage products shall have a 1” leveling range.

2. Laminate construction
A. Case shall be of 11/16’’ thick particle board, 45 lbs./ft3 density, two faces, dowel assembly. Edge trim on Case shall be of 1.5 mm plastic.

B. Case bottom shall be of 1-1/8’’ thick particle board, 45 lbs./ft. density providing structural integrity of levelers.
C. Drawer front and doors shall be of 11/16’’ thick, two faces. Edge trim on
Drawer shall be of 1.5 mm plastic straight style.
D. Drawer fronts and doors shall be available in HPL laminate and wood colors.
E. All drawers shall provide full extension slides with the following loading capacity in order to comply with BIFMA standards
1. Box drawer: 20 lbs
2. File drawer: 50lbs
3. Lateral File Drawer: 100lbs
F. All Storage shall have a leveling capacity of 1’’ and levelers to be 1-1/2’’.
G. Holes at 1-1/4’’ intervals on the inside walls of the side panels allow for shelf height adjustment. Pedestals and Lateral Files Cabinets shall not include shelf.
H. All storage with file drawers shall include anti-tilt device and shall be provided with an interlock system that allows the opening of only one file drawer at a time.
I. Suspension bars shall be included in File Drawers and pencil trays and dividers shall be included in Box Drawers.
J. Keys shall be selected as either Keyed Alike or Keyed Random. A key chart shall accompany every order if Keyed Alike is selected. If no preference is specified all orders shall be shipped Keyed Random.
3. Pedestals
A. Pedestals shall be installed under the worksurface for stability.
B. Shall be available in a variety of depths: 18’’, 22’’ and 30’’ and widths: 15-1/2’’ and 30’’ depending of the Pedestal style.
C. Shall be offered in 28’’ height only with levelers that shall provide a height adjustment range of 1’’.

D. Metal pedestals shall be 27¼’’ high and shall be available in 2 depths: 18’’ and 22”, except the Combo pedestal which is available in depth 18” only.

A. Laminate Lateral Files shall be all 18” deep and shall be available in widths of

B. The 18” deep and 28” high Under-Worksurface bookcase shall be available in widths of 24”,30” and 36”
8. Shelving Units
A. Shall be available in 12” or 18” depths and widths of 24”, 30” and 36” with 2 adjustable shelves
B. Shall be possible to mount the shelving unit on the optional top of the following units: Combo Pedestal 28” high lateral files, 28” high storage cabinet with drawers, and 28” high and 18” deep bookcase
C. The style shall be specified according to the top on which the shelving unit will be installed
9. Display Cabinets
A. The 18” deep display cabinet shall be available in widths 04 24”, 30” and 36” and heights of 38” and 66”
B. It shall be possible to install a 38” high display cabinet on a 28” high storage.
It shall not be installed on a desk
10. Electricity and Communication
A. The Retractable Power Centre shall slide up through the worksurface to provide access to electrics. It shall retract to allow use of the entire worksurface.
B. The Retractable Power Centre shall feature three electrical outlets and circuit breaker and a 72’’ long cord.
C. The Miniport Power/Data Center shall open up through the worksurface to provide access to electrics, communications and data. It shall retract to allow use of the entire worksurface.
D. The Miniport Power/Data Center shall include two electrical outlets and two communication openings and shall have a 72’’ long cord.

E. Voice/data faceplates and jacks shall not be included with the Miniport
Power/Data Center and shall be field supplied and installed.
F. The Under-Worksurface Power/Communication Kit shall supplies electrics and communication to the workstation. It shall come with a complete Kit with wire management clips to manage and conceal wires under the worksurface.
G. The Under-Worksurface Power/Communication Kit shall feature 4 simplex outlets and 1 communication opening. The communication opening shall measure1-3/8’’ x 2-3/4’’ and shall accommodates a variety of communication kit. Shall have a falt 45° plug.
H. Voice/data faceplates and jacks shall not be included with the Under-
Worksurface Power/Communication and shall be field supplied and installed.
Additional Communication Boxes, Wire Management Clips and Under-
Worksurface Power Bars can be specified separately.
I. For flexibility, the Under-Worksurface Power/Communication Kit shall attached anywhere on the underside and shall clip anywhere along the ¼’’ gap between the worksurface and the support or modesty panel.
J. Task light shall be freestanding
11. Finishes
A. Worksurface and Top thicknesses shall consist of the three following as standard offering:
1. 1” Collection (D): particle board 1”, 45 lbs/ft. density, low pressure laminate with two faces. Shall be available in Source Laminate colors.
2. 1-3/16” Collection (M): particle board 1-1/8” thick, 45 lbs/ft. density, high pressure laminate .030” thick and corresponding backer for a total thickness of 1-3/16”. Shall be available in Foundation and Wood
Veneer Laminate colors.
3. 1-9/16” Collection (X): particle board 1-1/2” thick, 45 lbs/ft. density, high pressure laminate .030” thick and corresponding backer for a total of thickness of 1-9/16”. Shall be available in Foundation
Laminate wood print colors only.

B. Finish program shall consist of a variety of finish materials and fabrics:
1. All fabrics designed to enhance system products and shall be offered in a range of low intensity colors with some stronger hues and a variety of solids, patterns and textures. All fabrics shall exceed industry technical standards;
2. Source Laminates are low pressure laminates that are available in solid colors and wood prints;
3. Foundation Laminates shall be high-pressure plastic laminates (HPL) that are offered in solids, patterns and wood prints. Solid colors shall also be offered in a range of low intensity neutrals with some pearlized colors;
4. Wood Veneer Laminates shall be pre-finished wood veneers that offer the properties of natural wood;
5. Foundation colors shall be powder paint colors offered on the broadest range of parts, including metal, extruded plastic;
6. Mica colors shall be pearlescent colors with light texture. This powder paint finish shall visually soften the surface of the metal on which it is applied and shall be available in low intensity colors;
7. Accent colors shall be powder paint colors in strong hues in order to provide accent shots of colors within the workstation;
8. Edge Trim Colors shall be offered for application to laminate surfaces. The colors shall be designed to either coordinate or contrast with laminate colors. The tone colors shall be designed for use with Wood Veneer Laminates to provide a consistent look to the surface.
C. Fabrics shall be composed of 100% polyester blends and of a variety of sustainable fibers including 100% PLA and shall be available in 4 Grades: A, 1, 2 and 3. Provide Maharam fabric to withstand a minimum of 50,000 double rubs.

D. All worksurface and meeting tables edge trims shall be offered in straight trim style ((6) Plastic Straight) only.
E. Worksurface grommets shall match the end gable, modesty panel and case finish color specified at the exception of the wood print colors; the worksurface grommets shall match the worksurface finish specified
