Amendment #03 to Solicitation Number 80GRC018R0009 Research Support Building
Question # Question Answer
1) Per 1 / A 503: 3‐1/2" x 3‐1/2" vertical steel tube spacing is required. Spacing between vertical posts cannot be located on both Architectural and Structural 2) Per 1 / A 504: Vertical post calls for flashing at point of penetration with top of wall coping.
Provide details for penetrations to remove water infiltration.
1) Regarding the vertical steel tube spacing required by Detail 1 on drawing A‐503 of Attachment B, steel post spacing is identified graphically as "FACADE SUPPORT POST, TYP." on drawing S‐106 of Attachment B and shall fall on steel beam intersections.
2) Flashing shall be as defined by the notes that have been added to Details 1/A‐503 and “EWS‐B FIN CONNECTION
– TOP” on drawing A‐504 of Attachment B. Flashing collars shall be required at the underside of the horizontal hollow structural section (HSS). Flashing membrane shall be adhered around vertical HSS post to top of flashing collar.
Carpentry / Roofing: Option 5 calls for connector to existing MIC building. Provide clarification for the following:
1) Will roofing expansion joint be required at connection to new RSB building, column line 0.5?
2) What is the finish on the underside of the connector? Is there a ceiling (exterior drywall) or is exposed structure to be painted?
3) Will sprinkler system be required with manifold?
1) A roofing expansion joint is required per detail 8/A‐505 of Attachment B.
2) The finish of the underside of the connector shall be exposed metal decking and shall be painted with high performance coating.
3) A sprinkler system is not required with manifold.
Plumbing: Who is responsible for providing the natural gas manifold? Is this provided by East Ohio Gas or does the plumber F&I it? Please advise
The Contractor is responsible for the gas manifold. It is not provided by East Ohio Gas.
154 Plumbing: Fixture B‐3 cannot be found on the schedule. Please clarify Fixture B3 is located on the Plumbing Fixture Schedule and is located in Room 120 ( Nursing). See drawing P‐103 of Attachment B.
Per sheet P‐102, 2 grease inteceptors are shown (G1) on the exterior while an interior grease inteceptor is shown on P‐103 col line D / between 13‐14. This is also marked G1. Note the following questions:
1) Are all 3 units the same size?
2) Is the interior unit in the floor or sitting on the slab?
3) Are the 2 exterior unts as shown required to have traffic bearing lids?
The two grease inteceptors shown on drawing P‐102 of Attachment B are labeled GI1, not G1 as indicated by this question. The interior equipment labeled as G1 on drawing P‐103 of Attachment B, at column line D / between 13‐ 14, is a water cooler, not a grease interceptor.
1) The two exterior grease interceptors are the same size. The interior equipment is a water cooler.
2) The water cooler shall be mounted as indicated in the drawings and specifications, and per manufacturer's instructions.
3) The two exterior grease interceptors shall have traffic bearing lids.
Metal Panels: Refer to 16/A506 and 1/A520. There is 2” insulated back‐up metal panel. But drawing legend indicated only 3” insulated metal panel only. Please clarify 2” insulated panel.
The exterior material legend indicates a 3" insulated metal panel but does not indicate a backup panel with a thickness. The 3/4" corrugated metal panel (MP‐3) is typically used with a 3" insulated‐composite metal panel system throughout the project. At the roof, 2" insulated‐composite backup panel system is used in lieu of the 3" backup panels to maintain a desired thickness at the parapet above the Gallery. All notes referring to back‐up panels or metal panels under corrugated metal panels will be updated to "insulated‐composite backup panel system" to avoid confusion with MP‐1 and MP‐2 insulated metal panels. The basis of design of this insulated‐ composite backup panel system is Centria Metalwrap as indicated on the exterior wall systems legend on drawing A‐ 202 of Attachment B.
Solid Surface / Sheet A‐412: The solid surface wall finish identifies an 1/8" reveal reference 2/A‐412 as example.
Please provide a detail for this reveal. Is it metal? Is it with in the solid surface material?
The 1/8" reveal along the ground floor resource wall is cut solid surface material with exposed gypsum board beyond painted black. Detail 11 has been added to drawing A‐414 of Attachment B.
Electrical / Bid Option 2: Per drawings and specs. The designated size of the solar panel system is 158.2kW with using 72 cell panels. There is not a 72 cell panel on the market capable of producing the specified 42W per square foot requirements. Please specify which panels and number of cells is approved to reach the specified array sizing requirements.
The Contractor is responsible for providing the design of an engineered 158.2kW solar array system as required by the RFP as Bid Option 2. The reference to 42W per square foot requirement shall be removed. The required size of the solar array system shall remain at 158.2kW using 72 cell panels as specified by Attachment A specification section 26 05 01.98. There is enough open roof area for the required solar array system to be installed. The solar array area limits shown on A‐108 may be expanded and the Contractor shall coordinate the final layout with the architect and provide submittals for approval, such as shop drawings, prior to purchase and installation.
Per review of Architectural against Structural Steel drawings, note the following: Details as shown on A 430 / A 505 / A 507 / A 508 & A 520 show either flat plate or bent plate.
1) Steel as referenced above cannot be located on structural plans. Is bent plate to be assumed to be 3/8" thick?
Provide materials thickness.
2) Flat plate as referenced above cannot be located on structural plans. Is flat plate to be assumed to be 3/8" thick? Provide materials thickness.
3) Flat plate wheree shown anchoring to wood blocking do not address method of anchorage. Is screwing into wood blocking acceptable? What is spacing of anchorage? are holes in flat plates to be pre punched and counter sunk to allow for wood blocking above plate to sit flat? Please advise
1) Bent plate shall be 3/8" thick.
2) Flate plate shall be 3/8" thick.
3) Flat plates shall be countersunk‐fastened into wood blocking. Spacing of anchorage for steel plate shall be 16" on center maximum; curtain wall verticals shall have wind load anchors back to steel structure; no steel plates at coping take lateral load of curtain wall.
