About this file

This is a specifications document for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) District 3 in the Elko/Ely region outlining requirements for a one-year open term contract for de-icing sand and cinders materials. The contract is competitive and seeks vendors capable of supplying these winter maintenance materials to support roadway de-icing operations. The specifications establish detailed requirements for product quality, composition, and delivery standards that bidders must meet to qualify for contract award. The document defines material grades, testing procedures, and performance standards necessary to ensure the de-icing materials meet Nevada DOT's operational requirements during winter weather conditions.

The specifications establish minimum standards for sand and cinder quality, including particle size gradation, moisture content limits, and contaminant thresholds that suppliers must comply with throughout the contract period. Bidders must demonstrate their ability to consistently provide materials meeting these technical specifications and should reference the accompanying "Additional Requirements" document for comprehensive contract terms, pricing expectations, delivery logistics, and any other conditions governing the procurement. The contract structure as an open term arrangement provides flexibility for NDOT District 3 to manage material procurement needs based on actual winter weather demands and usage throughout the contract year.
