About this file

This document is a Special Conditions file from the Neighborhood & Economic Operations Department for a demolition project in Jackson, Michigan, involving the property at 736 Page Avenue. The City of Jackson is seeking sealed bids for a comprehensive demolition project that includes removing a 1,656 square foot commercial building, with abatement to be completed and demolition beginning no later than 60 days after the Notice of Award, and all work to be finalized by May 23, 2025. The project requires specialized contractor qualifications, specifically a Residential Builders License or House Wrecking (R) Maintenance and Alteration Contractor license.

The demolition specifications include detailed requirements for hazardous material abatement according to MIOSHA and DEQ regulations, site preparation, infrastructure modifications, and landscaping restoration. Specific tasks involve removing curb cuts, installing new curb and gutter, replacing sidewalks, planting street trees, regrading the site, removing retaining walls and an antenna tower, and implementing erosion control measures. All demolition debris must be transported to a state-licensed type II or type III landfill. The City reserves the right to reject any bids and does not discriminate in its procurement processes. Contractors will need to provide comprehensive site restoration, including topsoil, seeding, and mulching upon project completion.
