About this file

This document is an agenda for a USAID Eastern and Southern Caribbean Industry Day event. USAID is designing a new education activity for at-risk youth aged 15-24 who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET) in Suriname and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with potential expansion to the broader Eastern Caribbean region.

The Industry Day will provide an overview of USAID's work in the region, details on the proposed education project, an introduction to USAID's pay-for-results approach, and guidance on how to work with USAID and access federal funding opportunities. The event will include presentations, discussions, and a Q&A session. Local service providers, academic institutions, private sector partners, and civil society organizations that provide youth training and employment services are invited to attend this hybrid in-person and virtual event on September 30, 2024.

Industry Day Goal and Objectives:

As part of its Regional Development Cooperation Strategy (2020-2025), USAID is designing an education activity for at-risk youth currently “not in employment, education, or training” (NEET) between the ages of 15 to 24 years old. USAID’s goal is to invest in local institutions and organizations to achieve measurable improvements in youth’s soft skills development and employment outcomes.

Suriname and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have been identified as beneficiary countries with expansion to the eastern Caribbean subject to the availability of funding.

Industry Day provides a platform for open communication between USAID and stakeholders, allowing the public and interested parties to better understand USAID’s education priorities and funding requirements while also enabling USAID to gain insight into local capabilities, for a more integrated design of the new education activity. Each Session will provide time for Q&A.
