About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for solicitation 70Z08125QELIZ0025, focusing on a water softener system replacement project. The Q&A addresses four key technical questions about the project: 1) Flow rate for the system is unknown, and contractors should use existing water softener data as a reference, 2) The existing parallel plumbing design must be duplicated, 3) The port size is not 3", and 4) Clarification on pipe replacement requirements, specifically from the backflow preventer to building water piping connections. The document references a Statement of Work (SOW) photo on page 7 of 9 that shows the water piping layout and connections, which can help contractors understand the exact replacement scope.

70Z08125QELIZ0025 Q&A
1) QUESTION: Please confirm flow rate required for the system
ANSWER: Flow rate is unknown. Use existing water softener data as reference for replacement equipment.
2) QUESTION: Please clarify if the existing parallel plumbing design is required.
ANSWER: Yes, Piping should duplicate existing parallel design.
3) QUESTION: Is the port size 3”?
ANSWER: No.
4) QUESTION: Could you please provide a picture or diagram of the amount of pipe that needs to be replaced per the solicitation? The solicitation states that "The contractor shall replace any and all water piping including shut off valves from the backflow preventer to the building water piping connections." The picture of the units shows what looks like a back flow preventer in the upper left corner. Along the back wall there appears to be a connection between the water softening system and a pipe that exits the area. Please confirm the location of the back flow preventer and the "building water piping connections".
ANSWER: Yes, the photo on page 7 of 9 of the Statement of Work shows the water piping from the backflow preventer and connects to the building piping at the top left-hand side (against the rear wall) of the picture.
