Question 1-- WI 1 Side Scan, 3.6 Side shell renewal. The Contractor must crop and renew 400 square feet of steel hull plating, as designated by the Coast Guard Inspector and using Coast Guard Drawings 901 WMEC 111-001, 901

WMEC 111-002, 901 WMEC 111-003, and 901 WMEC 111-004 as guidance. For bidding purposes provide plate thickness and minimum amount of plate size for one location. There is no possible way to include in the price unknown interferences. Contractor suggests providing price only for steel plate renewal and submit a CFR including interferences and address this price as a CR.

Answer: Please price for 400 square feet of 9/16” steel repair. CG suggests CFR/ CR complexed interference removals be completed via CFR / CR.

Question 2-- WI 11 Propulsion Thrust Shafts, Inspect, 3.3 Government’s right for changing out thrust shaft. The

Contractor must be aware that the Government reserves the right to furnish a new thrust shaft for installation in place of the existing thrust shaft. If the Government exercises this right, the Contractor must turn over the removed thrust shaft to the Coast Guard PA as an MTI item. Is this to be priced out? Contractor suggests to provide price after the CIR submitted after inspections in 3.2 and address as a CR.

Answer: WI is for thrust shaft inspection/clean to be conducted by the contractor. In case the inspection results are unsatisfactory, CG has the option to repair off site and bring it back for reinstallation if desired. Additional repairs/replacement to be addressed via CFR/CR.

Question 3-- WI 31 Fan Space, Repair, 3.6 Ducting, renew. The Contractor must crop and renew the ventilation ducting in the Fan Space (Compartment 1-117-1-Q) as designated by the Coast Guard Inspector, using Coast Guard

Drawings 901 WMEC 514-005 and 901 WMEC 514-012 as guidance. 3.6.1 Ducting insulation, renew Question:

Ventilation ducting to be renewed “As Designated by CG Inspector” doesn’t provide clear information. Please provide it. Same for insulation for bidding purposes.

Answer: Provide quote to include entire replacement of both ducting and insulation for spaces outlined based on the drawings provided. The Contractor must crop and renew the ventilation ducting in the Fan Space (Compartment 1-

117-1-Q) as designated by the Coast Guard Inspector, using Coast Guard Drawings 901 WMEC 514-005 and 901

WMEC 514-012 as guidance. The Contractor must install new insulation material over the exposed duct surfaces as shown on NAVSEA Drawing 804-5773932. Coat the newly installed insulation using the system specified for

“Insulation Surfaces, Fiberglass Sheet/Closed Cell PVC Foam” in SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix B (Cutter and

Boat Interior Painting Systems). 3.6.1 Ducting insulation, renew. The Contractor must renew existing ducting insulation as shown on Coast Guard Drawing 901 WMEC 635-001. Coat the newly installed insulation system in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix B (Cutter and Boat Interior Painting Systems).

Question 4-- WI 36 Hagar Track Renewal, 3.2.2 Hangar retraction. The Contractor must fully retract or remove the hangar to expose the deteriorated sections of tracks, as designated by the Coast Guard Inspector. Does the entire track assembly P/S need to be replaced or only deteriorated sections? Please confirm, the track assemblies are not

Government Furnished.

Answer: Only the deteriorated sections (most exposed to the weather) on both the port and starboard sides require repair or renewal. Specifically, approximately 15 feet on each side will need attention. These tracks are not provided by the government and typically only require repair rather than replacement due to lack of replacement parts.

Question 5-- WI 38 Watertight Hatches and Scuttles, Internal, DC Deck and Below, Renew, 3.3.2 Install GFP doors and scuttles in place of those removed. When GFP doors and scuttles are not provided, the Contractor must fabricate and install a new door or scuttle. Use NAVSEA Drawing 167-7379842 and manufacturer instructions as guidance for installation. This is not possible to price not knowing what’s arriving as GFM. Also, lead time for these hatches takes at least 3-4 months from companies that specialize in making them. Could the renewal of the hatches not provided by the Government, be descoped?

Answer: Yes, the Government will de-scope any work for this WI not completed because of lack of GFP.

Question 6-- WI 40 Watertight Sliding Door, Overhaul, 3.4.1 Wedge plate. The Contractor must crop and renew the bottom wedge plate. Provide dimension, material and thickness.

Answer: 2’ L x 3 ½”W x ½” T Steel ASTM A 131.

Question 7-- WI 40 Watertight Sliding Door, Overhaul, 3.4.1 3.4.2 Rollers. The Contractor must remove and inspect the bottom roller spindles and tracks. Submit a CFR. Repair the spindles and tracks Question: Extend of repairs are unknown until inspection and CFR. Contractor suggests repairs to be addressed as a CR.

Answer: Concur CFR/CR to be submitted based off Tech Rep findings.
