About this file
This document is an amendment to a solicitation for unplanned drydock repairs of the USCGC RELIANCE. The amendment provides responses to questions from offerors. It indicates that typical blocking tolerances of 1/4 inch in height, 1 inch longitudinally, and 1/2 inch transversely will be accepted for the emergency drydocking, though approval is required for any significant deviations. The initial solicitation was for unplanned drydock repairs of the USCGC RELIANCE from January 24-31, 2023, issued by the Department of Homeland Security United States Coast Guard. The vessel requires emergency drydocking and the amendment clarifies blocking tolerance requirements for offerors.

RELIANCE DRYDOCK REPAIRS FY23
AMENDMENT 0003
Response to Questions/Requests for Clarification:
1. In previous drydocks with Naval assets tolerances are very tight and can take up to 2 weeks to build and agree with clients representatives. Our yard will ensure blocking is to the docking plan, however being an emergency drydocking can you advise if typical blocking tolerances will be accepted, which will result in the yard requiring only 3-4 days to build.
Our typical blocking tolerances can be found in paragraph 3.5.2.2 (Block construction) of Std Spec 8634. The tolerances described therein are pretty standard for the industry (height within 1/4", longitudinal within 1", transverse within 1/2"). If there is significant need/cause for deviating from that, prior approval will be needed.
