CLARIFICATION
Amendment 01
Solicitation 70Z080-20-Q-P4500400
USCGC TERRAPIN DD FY20
1. WORK ITEM #29 Interior Deck Covering System, Renew:
QUESTION: Passageway; verifying the extent of interferences and any small areas in need of repair.
ANSWER: The intent of this WI is to renew the joiner panels as well the coating system as per the
WI. It is understood that the bulkhead panels and attachments may be an interference to the renewal of the panels in the passageway. CG is open to contractor recommendations to deal with these interferences. CG also understands that carpet may be in the way, but in the past it has been possible to peel back carpet far enough for the passageway panel renewal and then put carpet back in place after the panel renewal. If any carpet is unable to put back in place it can be handled with a change request.
2. WORK ITEM #31 Critical Coated Surface(s), Preserve:
QUESTION: Regarding the coating for the Lazarette Bilge area. Are we to finish to SP10 (near white blast) or SP11 (power tool cleaning)? With the extent of the interference removals it looks like it may be permissible to blast (SP10) this area. This would obviously reduce the man hours required to prep this area.
ANSWER: IAW SFLC STD Spec 6310 surface preparation for Bilges, Cofferdams, and Forepeaks surface preparation for Machinery Spaces is required to be completed to SP 11. Although the
Lazarette is technically a machinery space, we will be open to preparation of the bilge surface in the lazarette to SP10 IAW 6310, provided that the KTR provides the CG with a plan to protect machinery in the space from damage as well dust infiltration. The machinery protection will also be required to be inspected/accepted by the COR prior to start of blasting operations.
