STATEMENT OF WORK
FOR
Replace Coast Guard Computer Room AC
Units
Juneau, AK
***US COAST GUARD, JUNEAU, AK ***
[2]
1.0 PROJECT SUMMARY
This project will replace four Computer Room Air Condition (CRAC) units owned by the US Coast Guard and located on the 6th floor in the Hurff Ackerman Saunders
Federal Building in Juneau, AK. The Federal Building is owned and managed by the
General Services Administration (GSA). The four units service the Coast Guard
District 17 (D17) spaces primarily in Room 611 and Coast Guard Sector Juneau spaces primarily in Room 672 with two CRAC units per space.
The D17 spaces are approximately 2230 square feet in size. It consists of a conference room, telecom room, server room, and other offices and storage. These rooms are situated on a 12” high raised floor with an 8’ high drop ceiling. This space is served by two Liebert Challenger 3000 5-Ton R-22 AC units located in Mechanical Room 613
(CRAC 1 & CRAC 2). Ventilation to the space is provided by a Fan Coil Unit #6.1 that supplies the ventilation air to the return air in the mechanical room. The CRAC units for this space are downflow with a short radius duct elbow mounted to the bottom of each of the units that supply air to the floor in the conference room. The noise from these units is very loud in the conference room and upon investigation we confirmed that the sound boots that are shown in the 2007 design drawings were not installed on the supply air ducts. It appears that they were not installed due to interferences with the raised floor supports. Installation will include the installation of sound boots, and any needed modifications to the raised floor supports to accommodate this ductwork.
The Sector Juneau spaces are approximately 1860 square feet in size. It consists of a telecom room, bathroom, and other offices and storage. These rooms are situated on a
12” high raised floor with an 8’ high drop ceiling. This space is served by two Liebert
Challenger 3000 5-Ton R-22 AC units located in Mechanical Room 662 (CRAC 5 &
CRAC 6). Ventilation to the space is provided by a Fan Coil Unit #6.2 that supplies the ventilation air to the return air in the mechanical room. The CRAC units for this space are downflow with a short radius duct elbow mounted to the bottom of each of the units that supply air to the floor in the conference room. The sound boots that are shown in the 2007 design drawings were not installed on the supply air ducts. It appears that they were not installed due to interferences with the raised floor supports. Installation will include the installation of sound boots, and any needed modifications to the raised floor supports to accommodate this ductwork.
The floor layout has changed slightly from the 2007 design drawings, and the supply air floor tiles do not appear to be installed in conjunction with equipment to optimally transfer heat from the space. Any new installation should include a reevaluation of the location of supply air floor tiles to better accommodate the heat loads of the space.
A. Work must be completed in accordance with the following:
