About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying specifications and site conditions for a roofing replacement project on the Chief's Mess Building.
The project encompasses a 3,720 square foot roof replacement including removal of 10 existing 24"x24" skylights, two motorized electric exhaust vents, and solar hot-water roof-mounted components. The contractor must install a ridge vent, replace three existing pipe boots with new flashing, infill skylight openings with plywood, and replace approximately 300 square feet of damaged roof sheathing (anticipated to be ½" material). The roof deck will be covered with 15-pound felt or better underlayment and 30-year shingle type, with shingle color and type to be submitted for government acceptance after award. The performance period is 30 working days after award. Site conditions include sporadic building occupancy, available potable water and electrical power, restroom facilities, and permission for on-site dumpsters. The government will dispose of removed solar panels. Roof pitch information is unknown, and existing roof sheathing material confirmation is uncertain. Any damaged sheathing replacement exceeding the 300 square foot estimate will be treated as additional work per the revised Statement of Work included in amendment 0001.
