About this file
This is a specifications document for aviation radio equipment procurement by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for aircraft N6275S, a Cessna 182T. The project involves the installation of a Technisonics TDFM 9100 radio system with two modules covering VHF and 700/800 MHz bands, along with associated installation components including a PC-9000 PC cable and KVL-9000 keyloader cable. The aircraft currently operates with separate Motorola 800 MHz and VHF FM radios that will be removed during the upgrade. The installation must comply with Federal Aviation Regulations and Advisory Circulars, and will require replacement of the existing 700/800 MHz antenna with a RAMI AV924 antenna, integration with the existing Garmin Audio Panel, installation of a selector switch between the TDFM and auxiliary radio, and a pilot yoke-mounted channel select switch. The radio system must be APCO Project 25 compliant with support for both Phase I and II modes, multimode reception capabilities, encryption formats including AES and DES variants, and simultaneous monitoring of MAIN and GUARD VHF frequencies.
The specifications identify Technisonics Project #91981 as the required system, which features specific module configurations designated as H91TGD9PW7AN for both the single-band VHF module and the dual-band VHF/700-800 MHz module. The specifications include provisions for optional features such as CAI for P25, SMARTZONE Trunking, TDMA Phase 2 Trunking, and enhanced data capabilities. Installation requirements encompass proper Federal Aviation Administration Form 337 submissions, updated weight and balance calculations, logbook entries, and provision of Items for Continued Airworthiness documentation. The document indicates pricing was initially established April 11, 2025, with a modification dated May 5, 2025, to add VHF band capability to module two. Efforts should be made to preserve existing Motorola siren capabilities, and an auxiliary VHF FM connection must be installed for portable radio use per United States Forest Service drawings and specifications.
