About this file

This document consists of detailed engineering plans and specifications for the City of Yuma's upgrade of pavement markings at four citywide locations, prepared by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and involving coordination with Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT). The project encompasses pavement marking improvements on 32nd Street (Avenue D to Avenue C and Avenue B to 4th Avenue), 16th Street (Avenue D to Pacific Avenue), and 3rd Street/Giss Parkway (Avenue B to Main Street). The work involves installing approximately 97,186 linear feet of white extruded thermoplastic pavement marking (0.090" thick), 139,144 linear feet of yellow extruded thermoplastic marking, 65,835 linear feet of transverse thermoplastic markings, 39 pavement legends, and 274 pavement symbols. All markings are to be applied over existing striping using 90-mil alkyd extruded thermoplastic reflectorized material. The estimated construction duration is approximately 10 working days, with traffic control maintained throughout the project to preserve at least one 11-foot lane in each direction on arterial streets. All travel lanes must remain open to traffic at the end of working hours.

The contractor shall comply with current ADOT Signing and Marking Standard Drawings (M&S-Series), the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Arizona Supplement, ADOT Traffic Control Design Guidelines (2019), and Maricopa County Department of Transportation Traffic Control Manual (2015) as applicable to each road segment. Traffic control provisions include advance warning signs, changeable message boards, flagging services, and Type C steady-burning yellow lights on barricades, with specific quantities detailed on the construction sequence sheets. The contractor is responsible for preserving all existing pavement markers, permanent signing, object markers, and milepost markers, replacing any damaged during striping operations at no additional cost. No separate payment will be made for surface cleaning and preparation. The project requires the contractor to develop traffic control plans suitable for the construction sequence and obtain engineer approval prior to installation at each work zone location.
