About this file

This document includes questions and answers from a pre-bid meeting for a federal contract to replace two bridges on the Klamath National Forest. The solicitation is to provide engineering and construction services for the replacement of the Upper Doolittle Creek Bridge and Mill Creek Bridge, both located on Forest Route 17N11 and 18N15 respectively in Siskiyou County, California. The bridges sustained damage during the 2020 wildfire season and funding for repairs comes from Emergency Repair for Federally Owned Roads funds. Questions covered confirmation of interested vendors registration in SAM.gov, flexibility in structural steel decking thickness if design calculations support a change, and confirmation that a concrete base layer is not acceptable and the project must be bid according to plans and specifications.

Questions and Answers during Advertisement for CA ERFO KLAMATH NF 17N11(1) Upper Doolittle & Mill Creek Bridges

March 14, 2022

Questions Answers 1 Is there a plan holders list for this project?

There is an interested vendors tab on SAM.gov. You have to be signed in and have tied your entity to your registration when you signed up. If both of those things don’t happen the interested vendors list tab won’t be visible.

We don’t maintain a separate plan holders list.

You can call the federal service desk if you need further assistance. The number is1‐866‐606‐7828

2 Are you willing to take another bridge deck thickness than 9 gauge that is called out in the plans?

The gage thickness of the structural steel decking can be of different thickness than shown on the plans. Actual proposed thickness shall be supported by the design calculations as part of the prefabricated bridge submittal per Section 555 of the SCR’s and FP-14.

3 Are you willing to take a base layer of concrete with a top layer of asphalt?

A concrete base layer is not acceptable. Please bid according to plans and specifications. A value engineering proposal may be considered after contract award. See 52.248-3 Value Engineering -Construction clause
