About this file

This document is an Amendment (0001) to Solicitation 697DCK-25-R-00333 for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), issued on 06/17/2025. The amendment provides two key questions and answers related to a chilled water valve replacement project at the Anchorage Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZAN). The first Q&A clarifies that replacement actuators should be BACnet compatible and suggests contractors contact Schneider Electric or Alaska Integrated Services for control system configuration details. The second Q&A confirms that replacement actuators must be explosion proof, matching the existing boiler valve actuators.

The underlying solicitation is a small business set-aside for replacing chilled water modulating and bypass modulating valves, with a project value between $100,000-$200,000. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for June 10, 2025, with strict security requirements including advance registration and Real ID documentation. The project falls under NAICS code 237110 with a size standard of $45.0 million, and is being managed by the FAA's Enroute Construction Branch in the Southwestern Region.

Questions and Answers:

1. Do you happen to have any information regarding the actuation portion of this request? Because there's no information regarding the actuation? More detail regarding the Building Automation System and what you want i.e., BACNET? I see you'd like six(6) 6" Apollo 88A-20C-01 Ball Valves, but nothing on the actuation, manual lever operators, gear operator, pneumatic (with switches, solenoids, and or positioners) or electric supply voltages on/off or control voltages?

Answer: See note 2 on the equipment schedule where BACnet compatibility is called out. See attached photos of existing valves for reference. Intent is to replace actuator with like for like (or equivalent from other manufacturers). Reach out to Schneider Electric or their local rep AIS (Alaska Integrated Services) for exact control system configuration/design.

2. The existing boiler valves have explosion proof actuators. Are the replacement actuators required to be explosion proof as well?

Answer: Yes, they are required to be explosion proof.
