About this file
This amendment modifies a solicitation for an HVAC replacement and installation project at an air traffic control center. The scope of work includes replacing an existing air handling unit and installing controls on another unit. The amendment provides updated pricing sheets, clarifies that one bid alternate involves replacing raised access floor tiles while equipment remains in place, and furnishes an installation manual in response to questions from prospective offerors. Site visits are permitted but a second visit is not scheduled. Proposals are due to the Federal Aviation Administration for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to replace one air handling unit and install controls on another at an air traffic control facility in Hampton, Georgia, with a project cost estimate between $250,000 and $500,000.

Question: Please provide clarification on the Bid Sheet/ Alternate pricing.
Answer: Section J Bid Sheet is hereby updated and attached.
Bid Alternate #1: Provide cost for all materials and labor to replace the existing raised access floor in the CPC Vault Room (#1066). Scope of work is shown on drawing A101.
Bid Alternate #2” Provide cost for all materials and labor to install building automation controls to AHU-
32. Scope of work is shown on M603 and M604
Question: What is the ductwork plan for Bid alternate #2?
Answer: Bid Alternate 2 only covers controls for AHU-32. Installation of the unit falls under the main scope of work. The GFE provided floor stand includes a duct scoop, but no additional ductwork is required for AHU-32.
Question: Is bid alternate #2 a permanent install?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can we receive submittal on AHU 32?
Answer: Please see attached for the unit’s installation manual.
Question: Does the floor tile need to be replaced directly underneath the equipment located in CPC? I ask as this will require major co-ordination to turn equipment off, raise the equipment and replace tiles.
I would like to clarify.
Answer: It is the facility’s preference that the tiles under the emergency lighting cabinet (red cabinet) remain undisturbed. The other equipment in the vault is mounted to the sub-floor and does not need to be raised since the floor tiles are only adjacent to the sides of the equipment.
Question: Is the AHU 25 to be demolished if bid alternate #2 is foregone?
Answer: Yes. The two scopes of work are independent.
Question: Does the contractor need to perform the control integration with collaboration of an existing controls contractor?
Answer: Yes. See Specification Section 01 14 00, Part 1.4, Subpart G for more information
Question: Is the VFD required in this project also a government furnished equipment?
Answer: No
Question: Is there an opportunity to schedule additional site visit if deemed necessary?
Answer: Due to current Covid protocol/conditions, a second site visit is not scheduled.
