About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for weed control services at nine facilities within the Kansas City District. The solicitation seeks a contractor to provide weed control through applications at four-month intervals at each site listed, which include one Air Route Traffic Control Center and eight Federal Aviation Administration facilities. Services will include treating both bare ground areas and selectively targeting broadleaf weeds along grassy roadsides using an approved broadleaf herbicide combined with a growth regulator. The spreadsheet attached provides further details on treatment areas and square footages at each location.

1. What is the GPS coordinate of each location and their square footage individually, since locations can be removed at the government convenience?

ANS: The Answer can be found in attachment J-2. That attachments has the Long- & Latt- as well as the square footage. If you are having issues opening it, please let me know.

2. The scope of work states 4x a year. But when you look at each individual location, some instructions have different frequencies for services. Some have once a year and others have twice a year. Will all locations be serviced 4x times a year?

ANS: Yes, every site gets one treatment and three touch-ups (4x) a year unless stated in SOW for that site. The below statement is for the District site that don’t specify additional treatments. For example Ozark SSC has a second treatment shall be applied within 15 days of July 31st.

3. What is meant by touch up?

ANS: a touch up is when the company has to go back out to a site and spray a section or even the whole site again. There are many reasons that this could happen. If the whole site needs spraying a 4th time it would hopefully kill off anything for the rest of the year.

4. In the Statement of Work document, item 7, sub list 2; mentions grassy areas of roadsides and plots that have a broadleaf weed problem. Does this mean we are selectively treating only broadleaf weeds at roadsides that have grass along them? My understanding of this solicitation was an all bare-ground treatment at each site?

If we are selectively treating certain broadleaf weeds along grassy roadsides, can you identify how much that is? The sq.ft totals on the excel sheet does not break down what is a true-bare ground treatment vs a selective broadleaf treatment along roadsides. Also, each site "statement of work" does not specify either.

ANS: The spreadsheet attached in the posting on SAM (J-2. Sq Ft KC District Weed Control) shows road side sq. footage. The spread sheet also show plot sq. ft. The plots are the bare ground.

On grassy areas of roadsides and plots that have a broadleaf weed problem, an approved selective broadleaf killer shall be used. Included in this application a growth retardant or regulator shall be used on all areas treated for broadleaf.

The broadleaf weeds are to be spread the complete length of the road. We just want grass and nothing else growing so it can be mowed with ease. We don’t want run off into the adjacent plots.
