1. Does each area outlined in the request need to be entirely sawcut, milled, and removed or is this at our discretion as to what can stay/what can go?
The contractor will sawcut the perimeter of each area shown in the SOW, remove and dispose of the existing asphalt pavement (approximate depth of 3”). Replace the asphalt pavement to match the existing depth after compacting the existing subbase. Seal the edges of the repaired areas with hot Asphalt Cement.
2. I see we are going to be sealing with AC20 - are we line striping?
No line stripping will be provided.
3. Safety Loops – The SOW covers asphalt removal and replacement but doesn’t give much detail on restoring the embedded safety loops. Should we assume a full replacement with saw-cut, wire, and electrical connection, or is there a specific scope the FAA requires Safety Loops shall be saw cut into the new asphalt, 6' x 6' loop dimmensions, provide 6 turns of stranded #14 AWG copper wire. Provide baker rod and and hot liquid AC to seal the traffic loop. Provide sealtite or flexible PVC conduit above grade to the gate operators.
4. Compaction / Testing – Section 1.2 mentions that the contractor must furnish all permits and testing as required. Can you confirm whether compaction or material testing will be required, and if so, under what standard? No compaction testing or permits will be required.
5. Permits / Traffic Control – Since the work is outside the public right of way, can you confirm if any municipal permits or traffic control measures are expected to be carried in our pricing? No municipal permits are required. Provide traffic cones and barricades to close off sections of the parking lot during construction.
6. Stone Base Replacement – The documents don’t specify if the existing stone base must be fully replaced. Should we price a complete replacement of the 13,000 SF, or should we carry an allowance only if deficiencies are discovered during construction? The existing base will not be replaced, remove existing asphalt pavement and compact the existing stone base.
7. Do you have any additional specs for the pavement loops that need electricity? See question 3.
8. Sheet #4 depicts an 8'x30' hatched area that is not included in page 1 of the scope. Is this area to be included in our proposal? Yes, Include the 8' x 30' section as a separate price.
