Questions/Answers
1. What are the anticipated external systems that the replacement system will integrate with (i.e. – ERP, EAM, Financial)?
We anticipate that the solution will integrate with our Flight Operations Management System (FOMS), a web-based application using Java with an Oracle DB. We do not anticipate integrating with other systems at this point.
1. What is the current Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM)? Is the replacement system planned to serve as a replacement EAM solution for the aircraft fleet or interface with it? The plan is to replace the existing EAM.
1. Other than supportability, what other desired capabilities are lacking with the current ILM system? General user interface improvements. Nothing specific is lacking that is required to operate. However, we do have some manual processes that we would like to automate with a better solution, and we would like better reporting options.
1. We understand that supportability of the current ILM tool is not sustainable, but is that due to technological constraints, resources constraints, introduction of new business rules/functionality needs, or some combinations?
The main concern we have is technological. The ILM tool will not be compatible with our server infrastructure unless we make special provisions. We also have some ideas on functionality improvement, but we are waiting to see options available from a COTS product before we decide.
1. Do you prefer a "crawl, walk, run" phased deployment or a "big bang" like-for-like replacement strategy?
I would say “Big Bang” given those options. Although we understand data migration, process modifications and training will take time. We are hoping for a 12 to 15 month implementation plan, but we will coordinate with the selected vendor for an agreed upon schedule.
1. What level of administrative and configuration training do you envision your internal team absorbing and taking on beyond the initial deployment? Or do you envision relying on the vendor for future configuration modifications, expansion, and business rule changes?
We envision getting support from the vendor for administrative and configuration training for more complex changes. However, we will be staffed to make some of the more routine changes.
1. What level of end-user training support/service do you envision the vendor/service organization providing (i.e. train-the-trainer, facilitated live training, etc.)?
We expect “train the trainer” approach since we have users in multiple locations. Training involving the vendor will be in Oklahoma City, OK.
1. We understand the current ILM tool is a custom, homegrown solution, but what is the backend of the system (i.e. MS SQL Database, MS Access, other, etc.)?
Classic ASP web based application with an Oracle DB v 12C.
1. How much data do you expect to migrate from the current system into the new one?
We want to migrate all data for historical purposes, we estimate about 20 gigabytes of data.
