About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document (Amendment No. 5) for Solicitation No. 693JF726R000016, the URN-Vessel Design Challenge, issued by the Maritime Administration.
The amendment addresses a single clarification question regarding the scope of vessel types eligible for consideration under this RFP. Question 12 specifically asks whether references to fisheries vessels apply only to small fishing vessels or encompass all fishing vessels, including large commercial operations. The Maritime Administration's response clarifies that fishing vessels—regardless of size, including large commercial fishing vessels—fall outside the general purview of the Maritime Administration and therefore are not the specific focus of this RFP. This clarification effectively narrows the eligible vessel categories for the design challenge by explicitly excluding the entire fishing vessel sector from consideration.
