Project No. OR DOT 204(1) Project Weston‐Elgin Highway Resurfacing

# General Technical Question Answer Date

1 X

Regarding adjacent or virtually adjacent sites within ½ mile of the project (§ 108.01A Labor);

is that measurement of ½ mile aerial (as the crow fly’s) or measured along the access road to the site? My assumption is that its an aerial measurement but I need to verify.

Your assumption is correct. The actual distance from the project measured to the site is correct.

Plans Sheet C:3 shows full depth pavement widening. The section has geotextile, with roadway aggregate method 2, topped with asphalt. My question has to do with preparing this area to subgrade before installing the geotextile. I would assume this area needs some sort of excavation of material to get the section down to bottom of the fabric layer.

How would this be paid for?

See Subsection 109.05(b) of FP‐14. 12/11/19

3 X Is there any surveying grade books that will be made available for construction of this project?

No. 12/11/19

4 X

Sheet E‐36 of the specifications 156.07(n) requires adjacent lanes be paved to the same elevation by the end of each day. Does this mean that one should expect to pave a few hours, stop, back the paving operation up, let the mat cool to facilitate traffic and then begin paving again in the opposite lane until the lanes are squared up? Or is it within 24 hours the lanes need to be squared up? This would make a massive difference when determining asphalt production, cost, and time along with potential smoothness issues on the overlay section of the roadway.

This will be addressed under a forthcoming amendment.

5 X Is 24 hour/day work allowed on this project? No. See Subsections 156.07 and 156.08. 12/11/19
