OR WASCO 102(1)
Wamic Market Road and Ramsey Creek Overlay
# General Technical Question Answer Date
1 X
How do you intend to replace the existing steel posts that are attached to the box culvert? No drawings are referenced or provided. These posts are not like the ones shown on the drawings at sheet D.4 of the plans.
Guardrail replacement at the Ramsey Creek box culvert will be clarified in a forthcoming Amendment.

I also noticed the existing guardrail is only 150 LF per side not 250 LF? In order to provide an accurate bid for this project we need some clarification.
Thank you for the information. Measure and payment for the actual quantity removed will be according to Subsections 109.02, 203.07, and 203.08.

SCR Section 302.03 Preparing Surface, Section
(c) Shoulder Finishing, says “reshape shoulders to the widths and slopes shown in the plans.”
However, no widths and slopes are shown in the plans. Please advise
Subsection 302.03 and the plans both reference existing shoulders with variable widths and slopes.

SCR Section 302.05 Compacting and Finishing Crushed Aggregate, Section (c) Shoulder Finishing says “Finish surface according to Subsection 301.06.” Subsection 301.06 of the FP‐14 says to either a)if grade finishing stakes are required, finish the surface to within +\‐
0.05 feet from the staked line and grade elevation or b)if grade finishing stakes are not required, shape the surface to the required template…. I am sure grade finishing stakes are not required, so part b) would apply. However, no required template has been specified. Please advise.
Yes. Part B would apply. 5/15/18

Having viewed the existing shoulders, ditch lines, and original ground of the project, I can tell you that the existing conditions vary significantly. As a result, the ability to construct a consistent shoulder slope or width is not possible. Rather, we will be limited in what we can construct based on the existing conditions and thus the final slopes and widths will be variable, as is stated in the plans.
Absent any other information and also staying with in the scope of the Roadway Aggregate, Shoulder Finishing bid item, the final slopes and widths will be variable and will be largely controlled by the existing conditions (This is what the plans seem to indicate).
Based on our best interpretation and assumed intent of the contract documents, we feel the plans more accurately depict/describe the necessary shoulder widths and slopes.
Yes. Final slopes and width of shoulders will be variable according to existing conditions.
