*****QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO TASK ORDER 0003:

QUESTION 1:

Does CPSC have a preference for conducting the observational study in the Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland area or is there no preference for geographical location?

Is it acceptable to recruit siblings from the same family or do all children need to be from separate family units?

ANSWER 1:

No preference for geographical location, recruiting siblings is acceptable.

QUESTION 2:

TO3 indicates that the total duration of each observation per toy shall be at least 10 minutes. Does CPSC have an expectation for the number of toys that an individual child will interact with during a session?

ANSWER 2:

An individual child can be observed multiple times and for multiple categories/toys, however, each of the sessions will include one toy at a time (to make sure that the child is not distracted with another toy, only one toy during 10-minute session should be available.)

QUESTION 3:

TO3 indicates that each toy shall be evaluated by at least three age groups that apply. How many participants within an applied age group are expected to interact with each toy? Will all participants within an applied age group interact with a single toy?

ANSWER 3:

Each child shall have his/her own toy during the session, multiple children can be observed at once. An individual child can be observed multiple times as long as he/she plays with one toy at a time during one session (10 min.) Contractor has to collect the data for the number of children for each toy/age group listed in TO3 Section 5(e).

QUESTION 4:

Is the final technical report intended for internal stakeholders or external communication?

ANSWER 4:

The final technical report will be publicly available after the document goes through Section 6(b) clearance for approval.
