WHAT WE WANT TO DO

1. General Description The City of Alpharetta is reaching out to qualified, established Bike Sharing Providers (Providers) with demonstrated experience including expertise with successful implementation and operation of a “Public Bike Share Service Program” or “Program”. Our intent is to implement a Program with a Provider that is able to provide a total, turn-key operation including, but not limited to, all necessary equipment, operations, and related services necessary to establish, operate, and maintain a Program that is safe, reliable, and accessible to both residents and visitors.

This initiative aims to enhance mobility, promote healthy lifestyles, and support sustainable transportation options throughout the City of Alpharetta. The City is open to innovative, turnkey solutions that include planning, implementation, and ongoing management, as well as partnerships that leverage emerging technologies, community engagement, and operational best practices.

Respondents should be capable of delivering a comprehensive Program that aligns with the City’s vision for connectivity, environmental stewardship, and high-quality public service.

2. About our City Incorporated in 1858, the City of Alpharetta has a long history of enterprise, growth, and prosperity – qualities that continue to enrich the lives of residents, workers, and visitors today. Located in North Fulton County, about 25 miles north of Atlanta and 35 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Alpharetta is one of Georgia’s fastest-growing communities and a hub of innovation. The City’s 27 square miles are home to approximately 65,800 residents and a daytime population exceeding 122,000.

Alpharetta’s strategic location, major connecting highways, and well-maintained arterial streets make travel efficient and support regional mobility. The City is deeply committed to creating a walkable, connected community. Sidewalk expansion, greenway enhancements, the development of the Alpha Loop, and careful Downtown District design make it easier, safer, and more enjoyable for people to get around without a car. A Public Bike Share Service

City of Alpharetta RFQ 26-1001, Public Bike Share Program: Equipment, Operations, and Services

Program is the natural next step in this commitment—offering an accessible, sustainable, and convenient option for both transportation and recreation.

Our city is vibrant and active, with a thriving economy, excellent schools, abundant shopping, and top-tier healthcare. Cultural events like Taste of Alpharetta, Wire & Wood Songwriter’s Festival, and the Alpharetta Farmers Market draw visitors from across the region, while premier destinations such as Avalon, Ameris Bank Amphitheatre, and our extensive park system including Wills Park offer endless opportunities for entertainment and leisure. With over 862 acres of parks and an extensive greenway system along Big Creek, Alpharetta blends modern amenities with abundant green space, making it an ideal environment for a public bike sharing network that connects neighborhoods, parks, and business districts.

Known as the “Technology City of the South” and home to over 700 technology companies, Alpharetta embraces innovation in all aspects of city life. A Public Bike Share Service Program will build on this spirit—using technology, design, and smart operations to provide a Program that is inclusive, affordable, and tailored to the needs of residents and visitors.

Whether for commuting, recreation, or exploring our many attractions, bike sharing will help keep Alpharetta moving forward while preserving the down-to-earth character that makes our community special.

3. Project Overview The City wants to implement a Public Bike Share Service Program in select geographic areas throughout our City to connect our citizens with where they want to or need to go. Areas of interest may include nodes adjacent to public transit, parks, grocery stores, government and social services, business and economic districts, shopping districts, dense residential areas, and possibly other locations citywide.

This Program aims to be accessible, inclusive, and affordable for all members of the Alpharetta community. One goal of the Program would be to provide every resident and visitor with safe, reliable, healthy, and sustainable options for both transportation and recreation.

Our intent is that the public bike sharing vehicles may include a range of docked bicycle options for adults such as pedal bicycles, adaptive pedal bikes, and pedal tricycles or trikes.

Our City seeks to encourage innovation and inclusivity by allowing respondents to propose solutions that best meet the mobility needs of our community.

Under the Program “As a Service” model that our City would like to implement, the Provider or Provider team would be responsible for providing all required capital equipment (vehicles, docks, signage, and related apparatuses); the installation and deployment of all equipment;

ongoing operations, maintenance, and user support; marketing assistance and sponsorship outreach; liability coverage; and all other related services required to successfully deliver the Program on behalf of the City.

We would like responses from Providers to address the following items and how they may pertain to your company’s current operations and scope of services.
