CONTRACT TURF APPLICATION
INTRODUCTION:
The contract turf application program requires flexibility from the chosen contractor in that many applications must be worked into maintenance and management schedules. Also, user groups of the athletic facilities practice and game schedules dictate that work be performed at specific windows of opportunity.
Upon award of contract, the chosen contractor(s) and the City's Horticulturist will meet to plan and explain many of these operations and the need for flexibility. A copy of the written management plan will be given to the contractor(s) at that time and any questions can be addressed. The management plan is just that, a plan that is subject to change based on factors such as weather, seeding operations, turf wear, etc.
There are many products on the market for controlling weeds. It will be up to the contractor(s) to select the product of their choice that will provide the control needed. If the chosen product fails to provide the expected control, then the contractor(s) will be expected to stand behind the application and product chosen.
The chosen contractor(s) should be well informed with the industry standards and new products that come available during the period of this contract. They should be networking with others in the industry and turf chemical representatives on a regular basis to stay informed and be using the most efficient products on the market to attain the goal of providing healthy and vigorous turf at the given athletic and public facilities.
A copy of the Kentucky Pesticide License shall be supplied at time of bid submission. Category 3 and 20 are required. All operations shall comply with Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Pesticide Regulations.
A list of equipment to be used for applications shall be supplied at time of bid submission. Hand and boom type sprayers and broadcast fertilizer equipment capable of precise applications are required.
Contractor must have one (1) year experience in athletic turf treatment. Contractor shall provide names and phone numbers of three references for which similar work has been performed.
BID OPENS: 2025-10-30 02:00 PM CDT
In the event the contractor should damage any part of a field/area in any way, it shall be the responsibility of the contractor to repair the field/area at his expense and to the satisfaction of City personnel. In the event the contractor cannot or will not repair the damage, the City may hire a third party to repair the damaged field/area and the contractor awarded this bid shall be responsible for the expenses.
At time of award, a breakdown of cost per field per treatment shall be furnished to the City.
PLEASE NOTE: The summary sections per location in the specifications below may have slightly higher estimated spray numbers than the detailed description sections. This is due to the City taking into account potential additional sprays throughout the year. Please bid according to the summary numbers listed below, which are still considered estimates and may increase or decrease throughout the year as needed.

Answer: Yes the city seeds and fertilizes.
It appears some of the locations require an October round of fertilizer? Is this needed if the City fertilizes in the fall?
Answer: Yes, this is fine, as the City's fertilization will not affect the vendor's round.
