About this file
This is a Measurement and Payment section from a contract for J. Brown On-Site Septic Replacement, outlining compensation methodology for seven major work categories.
The contract employs both lump sum and unit price payment structures. Mobilization and demobilization is a lump sum payment covering transportation of equipment, materials, and personnel to and from the job site, all permits and fees, and taxes. Solid sewer pipe is compensated at a unit price per linear foot of 4" Solid PVC ASTM D3034 pipe, including labor, excavation, backfill, compaction, connections to existing sewer lines or septic tanks, testing, and site restoration. Underground two-way cleanouts are paid at a unit price per cleanout installed with similar inclusions, excluding above-grade cleanouts. The 1,500-gallon, 2-compartment septic tank with effluent filter (Orenco Biotube FTS0444-36 or equivalent) is a unit price payment covering labor, excavation, backfill, sand or gravel as needed, tank installation, risers, lids, baffle, plumbing, effluent filter, filling, leak testing, and surface restoration. The 1,050-gallon dosing tank, pump, and controls is a unit price payment including excavation, backfill, dual compartment tank, risers, lids, waterproofing, pump (Orenco PF201012 or equivalent), pump vault (Orenco PVU68-1819 or equivalent), floats, disconnect, junction box, high water alarm, control panel, electrical connection, testing, and system configuration. The subsurface drip drainfield including headworks and transport lines is a lump sum payment covering excavation, trenching, backfill, site restoration with grass seeding and mulching, clearing and grubbing, auto-flush headworks (Geoflow DripFilterECO or equivalent), supply and return lines with traffic-rated sleeves under the driveway, manifolds, drip installation, pressure testing, and capping fill. Finally, pumping and disposal of the existing septic tank is a lump sum payment including tank location, pumping and disposal of liquids and solids per state and local codes, tank excavation and removal, backfilling with approved borrow material, compaction, and site restoration, with provision for abandoning existing drainlines in place.

1. MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
Payment shall be made at the contract lump sum price for transportation of equipment, material, and personnel to and from the job site location (regardless of trips required), all required permits and fees, taxes, and all other necessary items to complete the work.
2. SOLID SEWER PIPE
Payment for solid sewer pipe as specified on the Design shall be made at the contract unit price for the size of pipe listed based on the number of linear feet installed. Compensation shall include payment for labor; excavation, backfill and compaction; 4” Solid PVC ASTM D3034 pipe and fittings;
connection of the solid sewer pipe to an existing sewer service line or home; connection to septic tank;
testing; resurfacing trenched areas to equal or better condition than existing; and all other necessary items for a complete and operational installation.
3. UNDERGROUND TWO-WAY CLEANOUT
Payment for the underground two-way cleanout as specified on the Design shall be made at the contract unit price for the number of underground cleanouts installed. Compensation shall include payment for labor; excavation, backfilling and compaction; 4” Solid PVC ASTM D3034 pipe and fittings, and all other necessary items for a complete and operational installation. No payment shall be made for cleanouts installed above grade as part of the connection to existing house.
4. 1,500-GALLON, 2-COMPARTMENT SEPTIC TANK WITH EFFLUENT FILTER
Payment for septic tank shall be made at the contract unit price based on a complete system for the size of tank listed based on the number of tanks installed. Compensation shall include payment for labor;
excavation, backfill and compaction; sand or gravel where non-uniform native soil or groundwater is present, resurfacing excavated areas to equal or better condition than existing and grading to direct surface runoff away from tank); dual compartment concrete septic tank; two risers and lids; baffle, plumbing, and effluent filter (Orenco Biotube FTS0444-36 or equivalent); filling tank to prevent floating, leak testing, resurfacing excavated areas to equal or better condition than existing and grading to direct surface runoff away from tank, and all other necessary items needed for a complete and operational installation.
5. 1,050-GALLON DOSING TANK, PUMP, PUMP VAULT AND CONTROLS
Payment for the dosing tank as specified in the Design, shall be made at the contract unit price for the size listed based on the number of dosing tanks installed. Compensation shall include payment for excavation, backfill, compaction, sand or gravel where non-uniform native soil or groundwater is present, resurfacing excavated areas to equal or better condition than existing and grading to direct surface runoff away from tank, dualo compartment dosing tank, risers, lids, waterproofing, plumbing, valves, fittings, pump (Orenco PF201012, 1 hp, 1-phase pump or equivalent), pump vault (Orenco PVU68-1819 or equivalent), floats, fused disconnect (when required), watertight junction box, high water alarm, control panel, wiring, connection to the existing home electric subpanel, testing, configuring the control panel and pump/dosing settings at system start-up, and all other necessary items for a complete and operational installation.
