About this file
This is a Notice of Proposed Sole Source Purchase from Jackson State University's Office of Purchasing and Travel, located in Jackson, Mississippi. The document details the university's intent to purchase a LCMS-8045 Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments for $245,380.00. The instrument represents a significant advancement in mass spectrometry technology and will expand an existing instrument system in the university's laboratory, specifically designed to support research and curriculum needs.
The purchase is being pursued as a sole source procurement because Shimadzu is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of this specific mass spectrometer, and no similar products from other manufacturers will integrate with the existing Shimadzu instrument purchased several years ago. The university conducted thorough market research, including searching the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) and web resources, which confirmed Shimadzu as the only vendor. Interested parties who believe they can provide an alternative product are instructed to submit a written objection to Kimberly R. Harris, Director of Procurement Services, with detailed documentation explaining why the procurement should not be considered sole source.
