About this file

This is Addendum #1 to an Invitation for Bids (IFB) issued by Grambling State University's Purchasing Department for the modernization and upgrade of five hydraulic passenger elevators at campus facilities under solicitation 50018-270000. The addendum modifies the original IFB issued July 10, 2026, and was issued July 29, 2026. The project encompasses comprehensive modernization of hydraulic systems, control systems, electrical components, door operators, safety devices, and related infrastructure across elevators located in the Intramural Center, Long Jones Hall, Carver Hall, and two elevators in Stuart Hall. A mandatory pre-bid site visit was held July 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with sealed bids due August 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. CST. The original contract time of six months has been revised to twelve months from award notification. Liquidated damages are assessed at $350.00 per calendar day for failure to achieve substantial completion within the contract time.

Key modifications specified in the addendum include identification of Everon Solutions as the fire alarm service provider, with contractor coordination and pricing required for fire alarm system integration with elevator fire service. The contractor must install fire-rated suspended ceilings in machine rooms, smoke and heat detectors in equipment rooms and hoistways, machine room alarms, and pit sump alarm systems with specific requirements including float switches, indicator lights, and automatic elevator return to the second floor upon alarm activation. Additional responsibilities include pit ironwork assessment at Carver Hall with potential change orders for replacement, removal of non-fire-rated wood paneling at Intramural Hall with code-compliant fire-rated replacement, installation of main line disconnects with 42-inch minimum working clearance at Stuart Hall, and provision of labor for mounting security cameras furnished by the university. The contractor shall not provide security cameras or perform elevator packing repairs in Building B, which remains the responsibility of the university's existing elevator maintenance provider. All work must comply with applicable fire codes and OSHA requirements, with coordination required around scheduled university events.
