About this file

This is Addendum No. 2 to a solicitation issued by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Purchasing Department for the NIRC-Building 29, 3rd Floor Laboratory Renovation located at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Campus in New Iberia, Louisiana. The project encompasses all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, and permits necessary for a comprehensive laboratory renovation including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and information technology work. Bids were due on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM (Solicitation No. 26210, Reference R1629885). The addendum addresses general specifications, prior vendor approvals, and responses to eight contractor questions submitted during the inquiry period. The project timeline requires a start date approximately 4 to 5 weeks from bid opening, with completion required within 280 days of the Notice to Proceed, with no construction timeline extensions permitted. Long lead time items must be factored into the construction schedule.

The addendum clarifies several technical and procurement specifications, including approved vendors and equipment substitutions. UL Lafayette approved specific vendors including Gaudin Equipment (for pumps, vibration isolation, HVAC valves, and humidifiers) and SESCO of Baton Rouge (for lighting fixtures). Regarding product specifications, the addendum confirms that epoxy sinks will be provided by the laboratory casework vendor rather than the plumbing contractor, and specifies that decorative film glazing in laboratory doors must comply with NIH Design Requirements. The addendum rejects a proposed substitution of window thermal multiplane glazing in favor of the specified Kawneer 451 product, citing the requirement for written substitution requests submitted at least fourteen working days prior to bid opening per Louisiana Revised Statute 38:2295(C). Additionally, the addendum clarifies that the structural steel fabricator must be AISC certified while the erector does not require certification, and confirms that the owner will engage and pay for all required testing and inspections as this is a public works project.
