About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ 5000230038 concerning the relocation of a Main Distribution Frame (MDF) at 450 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, with a quote due date of August 26.
The project involves relocating network infrastructure between two existing Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) rooms using approximately 90 feet of existing 2" EMT conduit with no new wall penetrations or ceiling modifications required. The work includes rerouting and re-terminating three 12-strand fiber optic cable sets (36 total strands) from the old MDF to the new MDF, with all 36 strands requiring re-termination using SC-type connectors. The fiber runs measure approximately 90 feet in length. The government will not provide a pre-quote site walkthrough due to time constraints, as the project utilizes existing pathways requiring no modifications. The period of performance has been adjusted to accommodate the September 30, 2026 completion date. The contract incorporates standard federal prevailing wage requirements and specifies no liquidated damages. The MPOE (Main Point of Entry) located in the sub-basement is not being re-routed as part of this work.

Questions and Answers for RFQ 5000230038, Relocation of MDF, 450 Golden Gate Ave SF (Due 8/26)
1. Conduit pathway: What is the approximate distance and routing between the two existing IDF rooms for the new 2" EMT conduit run? Are there any rated wall penetrations or ceiling obstructions anticipated along the route? Approximately 90 feet. We will use existing conduit so no anticipated ceiling obstructions or wall penetrations.
2. Fiber specifications: Please confirm the strand counts required for the new OM3 multimode cabling to each IDF, and the connector type required at terminations (e.g., LC or SC).Three 12-strand connections, which is a total of 36 fiber strands. Pulling back existing fiber to the new MDF and resplicing it.
3. MPOE re-route: Where is the MPOE located within the building (floor/room), and what is the approximate pathway distance to the designated IDF? Is existing riser conduit/pathway available for this run? The MPOE is in the sub-basement. We are not re-routing there. We are rerouting and re-terminating from the old MDF to the new MDF.
4. Liquidated damages: FAR 52.211-12 in Attachment 2 does not specify the daily liquidated damages amount. Please provide the amount the Contracting Officer will insert.
No damages
5. Wage determination: FAR 52.222-6 (Construction Wage Rate Requirements) is incorporated, but no wage determination was included with the solicitation. Please identify the applicable Davis-Bacon wage determination number for this requirement. Standard federal prevailing wages.
6. Site visit: Will the Government make the site available for a pre-quote walkthrough?
Given that pathway conditions and distances materially affect pricing, we respectfully request a site visit opportunity prior to the quote due date. No, due to time restraints there will be no walkthrough. We are using existing pathways, so no modification.
7. Period of performance: The SOW lists installation beginning 07/25/2026, which precedes the quote due date. Please confirm the anticipated revised period of performance and whether the 09/30/2026 completion date will be adjusted to account for award timing and pre-access security processing of contractor personnel. The Period of performance has been changed appropriately for the 9/30/2026 date.
8.Can you provide the number of Fiber runs to be moved. Reroute 3 sets of 12 fiber runs and re-terminate.
9.Can you provide the length of the Fiber runs. Approximately 90 feet.
10.Can you provide the number of strands for the fiber runs. 36 strands separated into 3 cables.
11.Length of the EMT run. I believe that is 90 feet.
12.Number of fibers/strands that needs re-terminated and type of connectors. All 36 strands need to be re-terminated. The type of connectors are SC.
