About this file

This is Addendum No. 2 to Request for Quote (RFQT) No. 26-0275 issued by the City of Fort Worth's Financial Management Services Purchasing Division for Biomedical Waste and USDA Regulated Collection Services. The addendum, issued on September 8, 2026, amends the original RFQT issued on September 1, 2026, and provides clarification on waste segregation and disposal procedures across City facilities. The bid opening date was revised from September 7, 2026, to September 11, 2026. The addendum addresses specifications for biomedical waste services, including animal tissue, pathological waste, and pharmaceutical waste requiring incineration treatment. The City clarified that waste should be segregated and not commingled, with biological waste potentially originating from fire stations responding to accidents or injuries, animal waste handled by animal control, and food waste from Meacham picked up as required by USDA regulations in quantities ranging from one to four tubs weekly. Pharmaceutical waste will primarily be collected from FWFD-EMS Central Operations and occasionally from Bob Bolen Fire Administration or other fire stations, with large 18-gallon white containers with blue lids stored at Bob Bolen Administrative for citizen-turned-in medications, typically picked up once annually.

All other terms and conditions from the original RFQT remain unchanged. Respondents must return Addendum No. 2 with their sealed bid, with company name and signature matching the original bid documents, or risk rejection of their offer. The document serves as an official incorporation of the amended specifications into the overall contract solicitation for biomedical waste and USDA regulated collection services on an as-needed basis.

Questions and Answers

Q1. Correction to question 7 of Addendum 1.

In the 'Specifications' document, under "4.0 Biomedical Waste Services", it references different types of waste that would require treatment via incineration such as animal tissue, pathological waste and pharmaceutical waste/medications. Which of these sites will be disposing of these types of waste? If this waste is generated, do the sites segregate and package the waste into separate containers from the rest of their biomedical waste or is all biomedical waste comingled and packaged into the same container for service? If packaged separately, can you provide additional information as to the total number of containers of this type of waste the sites are disposing of per pickup or per year?

A1. Waste should be segregated and not commingled. Biological waste may come from fire stations responding to accidents, sick or injured, animal waste is generally handled by animal control. Food waste from Meacham is picked up as required by USDA regulations, the amount picked up varies week to week and are in tubs and varies from 1 to 4 tubs in a week as an estimate. Pharmaceutical waste will primarily be picked up from FWFD – EMS Central Operations location, and occasionally, from the Bob Bolen Fire Administration or a different fire station. We have large, approximately 18 gallons, white with blue lid pharmaceutical waste containers kept at Bob Bolen Admin for fire stations to take citizen turned in medication to. These large containers are generally picked up once a year.
